I want a Prince autograph bad.  Where can I go to get one without spending 10K?

This is an interesting take. I do think Prince gave his check book, or lots of checks, to a close source of his. The only requirement is that they only used the signature. He's the only person I've seen where a full check is VERY rare, but his check signatures can be had. Seems like there's a driving force there.

That's great information, Jared...thanks. R&R had two cut check signatures since 2010. One may have been Steven Jackson's. He sold it on eBay for $1,500 in seconds, and I think it may have been one of the R&R ones.

Hopefully there's a treasure trove of Prince signed checks and contracts waiting to come to market. I went on eBay last night and counted stopped at counting 117 signed Prince items...99% of them signed albums, photos and performance memorabilia. I couldn't find 10 that I thought had a shot at being real.

So many are fake. Oddly enough there was a real example the day he died i was going to bid on. The seller since said it's not for sale. I know a lot of in-person people from LA, all have said he was a great guy, but wouldn't sign. The only times I heard of him signing in the last 30 years was when he was the "symbol" and signed a very sloppy version of it. Oddly enough with everything coming out, I always heard he walked into a club with 3 woman and would leave with 5 different ones. Sad, but the rock star life doesn't work unless you are from the UK somehow.

Walking into a club with 3 women and leaving with 5 different ones?

Please...let me carry a rock star's burden for a while. Anything to help them!!!

I just don't understand why some people want to buy when the market is high. ???? At this moment, the price can only go down.

Steve,

They may not be buying for investment or to collect. They could be buying for something personal to remember Prince by.

I think that a nice, clearly genuine signed album or photo at less than $5,000 is an excellent investment. Little downside, if any. I think that the VISA application that Iconic sold for $4,500 yesterday will probably maintain its value or rise due in the next couple of years due to the reliability of it, depending on how many Prince signed documents come on the market through his estate. The person who bought it from Iconic yesterday could easily sell it for more than he paid for today. Probably $6,000-$8,000.

But if Prince saved originals of all his engagement contracts and other signed documents over the years, and checks, and especially checks, the buyer could lose money in the future. I'd suggest they sell it in the next few months unless they're a total Prince fan with little concern about investment because I think Prince was ungodly intelligent.

I think it is good advice to wait. At least a few weeks. I'm more of a sports collector, but the same trend happens in sports when somebody dies, is inducted into a Hall of Fame or breaks a record. Allot of novice collectors hit the market and drive prices through the roof. Sometimes the effect only last a few weeks.

Example:

GS Warriors broke the Bull's single season win record. That week, with all the media hype, Steph Curry's basic (common) Topps rookie card was selling on Ebay for $600, ungraded. Just a couple weeks later, it's back down to $200. I wouldn't be surprised to see it at $50 in a few months.

Crowds can do crazy things to prices.

I already got it!!!!

and it is not a crazy crazy price.  I got a signed album and tambourine

Genuine Prince signed albums were going for $2,000 to over $4,000 before he died. I never saw a tambourine signed by him.

I have one Roger Epperson passed inspection

Epperson is excellent on Prince. If you bought them with his COA, did you ask him to verify that he actually authenticated it? The bad guys counterfeit COAs and LOAs, too.
