Walked into a good friends office today and he showed me his recent acquisition. I'm no expert, but it doesn't look like the Mays certified cards I have. He purchased it at a charity auction.

Has a Say Hey hologram.

Thoughts?

Other issue is the bat. Are there Chinese knockoffs of bats? It has very sloppy printing, and the glossy finish doesn't seem right.

Not my area of expertise, but I am fairly familiar with Mays. This is certainly an odd example and I'd avoid it.

There has been ongoing chatter of issues with Sey Hey holograms... so I wouldn't place a lot of confidence in that.

Thanks Steve. Much appreciated. Any other opinions? I'd like to help my friend get his money back. I don't want to have him accuse anybody of anything if we aren't certain. It looks nothing like the Mays examples I have. But I really want to be sure.
I would stay away. I have two 16x20's, an 11x14, three 8x10's, and a baseball signed by him and none look like this.

that is really a horrendous example of a Mays signature.

Horrendous but real? or Horrendous but fake? Or just too horrendous to know?

I would give that sucker a no by looking at the way that M was signed. Don't know why somebody would put their sticker on it if it was already "gospel" with the Say Hey on it?

I was wondering the same thing. And I can't find any online registry associated with the sticker.
