Is anyone going (or has gone) to Roger Waters Us and Them Tour and gotten autographs? If so, any tips?

I may go to one of the Chicago shows at the United Center, or the St Paul show. Any idea where to look for him or what times? Is it better to check the venue or hotel?

Thanks for any help!

It looks like they were smiling/laughing before he even got up there. Then he said "stay black". So they remembered him and laughed. Even I remembered the guy when he said that because I've seen him on TMZ before. Sticks out when he's saying it to a white guy.

I don't think they care if a dealer gets a single signature, otherwise he probably wouldn't sign at all. I think they don't like when they pay 10 people to get them autographs. That guy just made like $3000 by paying people to get autographs for him. I can see where that would be annoying to the celeb, who worked hard to get where they are, and someone is making good money off their hard work and name. It's not hard for them to look on eBay the days he signs and see 50 signatures get listed.

I dont know if it was 70% for profit... but when I was in Chicago both days it was fairly obvious who was there as fans, who was paid to be there, and who was paying (and I didn't walk through the line and check everyone out). They didn't make any attempt to hide it. Some were going through the line telling the people they paid which side to get signed and giving instructions. I heard people talking about how high they were going to get that night and it was easier money than panhandling. I heard one guy who had no clue who was signing. Then all the dealers stood outside in plain sight collecting their autographs. One almost caused a fight. All it would take is a few of his people standing in line to get an idea of who were fans. I'm sure some blend in with the crowd but it was at minimum easy to see a lot of people weren't fans.

The guy on the video alone got like 10-12 signatures. So if 100 people were in line his people alone made it 10-12% for profit. There were easily 5 dealers paying people to get signatures in Chicago (and maybe some more that were more discreet, who knows.). So at 10 signatures each there's about 50% for profit. So I could see the numbers being really high. Not to mention many people don't realize he signs before shows. I'm sure most dealers realize this and the value of his signature.

Sounds like a different Saturday than mine. I heard the stuff Friday about someone or other being recognized, whoever it was seemed to think this very funny (this same person I saw again Saturday, and I believe was the double dipper with the attempted "disguise" - he kept saying "it wasn't me!" repeatedly, while laughing and smiling afterward)...anyway, Waters flew past so fast on Friday there seemed no intent to stop at all...I dunno. Perhaps the huge protest on the other side of the Coliseum?

I saw a handful of people Saturday after the rain started, a few, Waters just started to sign and then the scuffle happened and he was gone in a flash. It was simultaneous. This all happened in the time it took for me to get my DVD out and get it signed. Minutes. I can't imagine more then 12 people ahead of me and maybe 2 after at most? The scuffle, which landed that someone on the ground right behind me (I was less then 10 feet from Waters car), happened right about when I was handed my signed DVD back. How many could he have signed after this?  I guess 2 maximum, 1 perhaps the aborted double-dip. Waters was just seriously screaming about eBay.

I was wondering if you saw Gio and his workers in action Paul!

Sounds like you got REALLY lucky Eric!!

I DID! Thanks Ian. If I can coax my scanner to be nice I'll post pics later tonight.

My wife and I got RW on Saturday to sign 1 L.P. each for us. We got lucky from what I found out, as the line got shut down for people double dipping and security catching them. With it raining a bit when he showed, we got our albums signed, and ran to the car to keep them dry.

Thanks for posting the photo of Waters signing in his car - much appreciated. I was there too - how many people would you say were ahead of you?

I was probably 5th or so person who showed up. Once the rain started I stayed out by line for a while with umbrella, then took cover against the arena. Once we got back in line, I would say my wife and I were maybe 8th and 9th roughly, maybe a few less.

Thanks - so you were in front of the huddle of umbrellas, or in it? I had to be just behind you until the fan Nick from Hofstra went ahead of me to give me 2 seconds to switch hands/what I was holding/eyeglasses etc. As I said, I believe just 1 or 2 were signed after mine at most. Did you by any chance see who got the first autograph?

I was the front umbrella of the huddle, until I ran over by the arena to keep dry.

By the time I got back in line RW was driving up, so it was tough to tell who was first. There was a guy in a Germany bucket hat that was up front before the rain, and I think he stayed up there thru the rain, so I'd guess it was him.
