What do you think? I got outbid at the last second on the check. So I'm hunting again. Take a look.

Looks good to me

I have reservations about this one.

It looks very careful - note how the signature and greeting have been squeezed into the image - as though care was taken to avoid crossing into the margin. That's not his style.

I have difficulty interpreting the placement because I am left-handed and would naturally be drawn to the left upper corner if I was signing it but that is probably just my leftism thinking for me. It seems to me there is much more space there but as a "rightie" perhaps the other corner is what you would be drawn to and you see more room there.

The first part of the greeting, "Best" is pretty near but the signer has then lost their way a little with "Wishes" which is atypical. The actual autograph is constrained by the angle, which might explain the oddities ("S" to "e" for example".

I think I'm on the fence with this one and for that reason I would not buy it myself.

First thing I saw was the "S" to "e" connection. There are other things. I too would pass.

Little late reply. I literally just bought it but requested the canceled now and was refunded.

Some interesting observations here, respectfully, here are my thoughts.

I know Connery has the reputation of being unbelievably sloppy (often true) but for most of his career he was actually fairly careful when it came to placement. This is obviously not an autograph hound feeding frenzy scenario, likely signed for a single fan and not a typical Bond image- to be honest the pride of keeping it within the margins and not covering his face perfectly aligns with what I'd expect from Connery here.

The placement as well is very typical for Connery. He signs in the same spot on nearly all headshots. The slightly descending angle is typical, as is the weighing and minor angle and size changes in the 'uuu' part of his last name (note particularly the larger u in the middle which came to be his 'n') in this style signature.

Again, with regard to the 'wishes', to me and for this style it is absolutely typical. I actually went back into my archive to confirm my feelings on this and it made me even more confident.

The 'S' to 'e' is slightly a-typical but I've seen plenty of instances where he's done this, or similar. At various times Connery would change the sharpness/thin-ness of his 's'. These sharper variants generally led to the bubble below and around the bottom of the S to become taller meaning sometimes the connection to the 'e' would have to come down rather than go straight across (I hope that makes sense!). I'll attach a few examples.

I think the thing with Connery is he has several different 'styles' of signature and even within each style there are variations. For this particular style- this feels good to me.

And this is why I love this forum where we can all respectfully share our thoughts to help each other out! (You might have to click on the image below to see all the examples as its a little wide)

I submitted to an Opinion to Beckett. Even though I don't like them. Also focus on that uuuu pattern. Does it look possibly traced to you? And is the space in wishes typical as well? Now im starting to really scrutinize it. That ebay seller has autos from all over. Some good and bad. Including another Connery that looks bad to me. I highlighted the points for you.

Here is the other Connery he has. Which I'm certain is bad. Connery never has the y ending with a inner curve. It's almost always straight down or slightly outward curve. I may just be overwhelmed and over thinking. I just don't want to get burned.

Beckett said it was bad (that was fast). I'm starting to think that is a really good Forgery. The slight shaking in the middle of uuuu.

the seller def has a lot of fakes.  I am on the fence re the signed photo. I think its a very ugly sig, but I dont think its a clever forgery as a forger could have done a better job.  I think it may  well be real but Connery was having a bad signing day.  I think as TQ says Connery has a number of signing patterns

Why take the chance? Get a good strong example.

I love that we can all share differing opinions here.

The two bits you've circled do not concern me at all. The space in 'wishes' comes from a light touch of the pen- you can see the curl at the top right of the w should have been connected to the middle shape and the likewise onto the top of the 'h' as Connery generally does. The circled 'uuu' part is typical of this style. I continue to feel good about this item- but at the same time, its not one I'd personally buy given the price and obscure movie.

The second example you posted is, in my opinion, a very poor fake.

Re. Beckett on Bond items... well. Everyone is entitled to their opinions...

I think Eric has summed this up best. Why take the chance. It doesn't matter what we, beckett, or anyone else says; if you have even the slightest niggle of doubt in your mind it will taint the item forever for you. There are plenty of obviously genuine Connerys available right now so best to look at another item!

Glad you went for a refund right away.
