Star Wars Collectors Unite!

I have been collecting Star Wars autographs since 1998.  Not all of my signatures are on Star Wars memorabilia.  For example, when I met Warwick Davis at a comic convention in New York City, I had him sign a Willow photograph.  I also have publicity photos of Sir Alec Guinness and Christopher Lee from the 1970s, and a Natalie Portman signed The Diary of Anne Frank theater poster from her performance on Broadway back in 1998.  My current wish list includes Peter Cushing, Terence Stamp and John Williams.  I am interested in knowing about the collections and wish lists of other members.

Someone probably used acetone and it melted the emulsion on the photo.

Dedication removal happens in all areas, but it seems really pervasive in modern entertainment. I think it's crazy to be removing writing that helps prove authenticity, but I am clearly in the minority.

Thanks, Joe. It's one thing if the dedication is from a common show signer I get that it renders the item worthless to anyone except the original recipient.

But for an uncommon and valued signature that is super easy to forge -- like Ridley -- any extra writing adds peace-of-mind in my view.

But collectors gotta have their "perfect eye candy." This type of mentality is the scammers and forgers best friend.

Here's a great example. Missing with an inscription defiles an otherwise fine signed photo. IMO

Oh god that's terrible. Collectors are very impatient. If they just wait they will have opportunities to get exactly what they want. Hamill does multiple signings a year, and Daisy will be doing multiple signings this year and probably for the rest of her life. People have to get over the gotta have it right now mentality.

Didn't mean to bust on you or your item JXE. Sorry. It's a great signature in any case. My comments were really directed at the overall hobby mentality of removing dedications.

I certainly hear you. And If I buy something with an inscription I keep the inscription. But in this case, the damage was done. And as a result of the damage, the price was extremely attractive... very far below what the price for 11x14s from the signing will be. So I got it because of the qualities that drew me to it.

If you like it that's all that matters. I've never seen one signed in silver, except for the first name graph she gave away on Instagram. Maybe a company like studio C would be able to repair it a bit if you chose to go that route.

Do we have any actual official information about the signing?  What images will be offered for sale?
