This one hurts because I'm a big Lombardi fan.

Lombardi sigs fetch in excess of $1000.

What is this worth now?

Uh...I...can't believe my eyes. You already know my answer to your question. This makes the cut slabbed Bowie ISOLAR card for $700 look complete. My "I'm speechless" line is obviously not gonna fly, so I am going to ask, not knowing anything about this, was it as it appears? There was room for more of this payroll page (still a mortal sin, but at least you'd have the top of the "L")? What is the upside of this? Is this now "limited"? What else? Geez, they control these slabs - why not larger? And why chop both the top and bottom of Mr. Lombardi's face off? It's like a badly faux-sepia tinted pan-and-scan film!

Congrats Shawn, you found something I hate more violently then the dreaded sticker (although I still can't abide one this is  - I must refrain lest I sound "presidential"...).

Umm...Gem Mint 9.5? With three bits cut off?

haha

I knew this one would drive you as crazy as it does me. I just don't get this at all. I am also speechless and sick to my stomach to have witnessed this. If I'm not mistaken, Vince is one of the highest priced and most sought after sigs of the NFL. Who is responsible for this nightmare????

And  that crazy grading. Oh man I'm gonna puke.

Graded autographs are not to be taken seriously. It’s a marketing gimmick. Period.

These card companies have become such trash over the past 15 - 20 years.

i've never seen one of those that isn't horribly cut like that. the guy cutiing them must've been drunk. the 2002 cuts are much nicer

This is awful, but you have to remember the type of collector this (plus the grading system) is targeted.

Obviously not a purist, someone who respects the history of a piece. Yet an impulsive collector who would want a slabbed signature with a "high grading" (what a joke)

Someone who will probably show it off to his buddies at a Superbowl party and since it is slabbed and graded he doesn't have to worry about any salsa ruining the graph! Perfect!

...

This business of cutting pieces down to be entombed is disgusting. As if only the signature is of value? I get that people collect for different reasons, but these businesses cutting apart history just so they can put their logos all over it is like spitting on history.

Sure this may just be a check, but what was he buying and when? You could still have displayed the check with a photo. Less is less...Less valuable imo. Like I said though, there is an obvious market. Still crap.

It has been observed - this word "collector" - this may be the majority too - look at the % of forgeries and "inexperience" we have seen from incorrect ink to misspelled names and LP's released after the death of the signer. Th Coa "business"...Vegas...

I think we may need a new word - "collector" ...I dunno if I like that anymore.

I once saw a Don Knotts cut signature from a contract that was butchered by one of those God awful card companies.  It made me almost sick to the point of nausea to see vandalism like that and like this Lombardi.  That check would have been much more valuable and for most checks why would any one bother to get a third party authentication for it.

I agree Scott. It makes no sense to butcher a cheque, especially since it would easily fetch $1000+ for Lombardi.

But I'll be watching this bid and see what it sells for. Although it still makes me feel sick just looking at it. I would almost rather see a forgery than a vandalized legit item. If you know what I mean?

You wonder how some people sleep at night after doing things like that.

I saw a beautiful Lombardi - big 7x10 slab (I guess) - whole payroll page or check or whatever - all context and quality intact. Then look at this thing again...grrr.
