+1 this could have become a real nightmare for the retailer. Kudos to Jianfeng Wang and Jason H for helping blow this thing wide open!

plus 100.  So does anyone know how J Wang got one before everyone else?  was it just a fluke?

Yes, sounds like someone at his local Indigo location screwed up.

Received reply from Indigo president from email I sent earlier today. Attached is screengrab.

Leonard Martinez way to get a reply!

I love the part "the artist (Bob Dylan) has decided to take a different direction".

Ya right, after getting caught trying to defraud his fans, a shamed Mr. Robert Zimmerman has decided not to sell the autopenned fraudulent material afterall !!!

Sickening and shameful!

What a story. Thanks everyone who contributed to a great  outcome. My order cancelled and money safely with me.

Unfortunately, as a diehard Dylan fan, I am gutted. This was going to be very treasured. Should have stuck to my instincts that when some thing feels too good to be true, walk away.

What a horrible thing to do. I hope this story is picked up by some media outlet and those culpable are exposed. Shame on them.

Kelly, how did you Pay? Via card or Paypal?

PayPal.

I'm glad these got caught, but in a way I kinda wish more had been sent out, or we knew for sure they were all autopen before they got cancelled. We've seen some celebs sign part of their cd pre-orders and do secretarial on the rest. I would have been curious if he signed some and only some were autopen or if they all would have been. I guess we'll never know. The one thing I'd guarantee is this will ensure Bob never does another signed book in the future, or at least not a big signing like this. I'm sure he's not happy about it. Not that I care if he does another autopen signing. I guess I'll have to put Dylan back on my "probably won't ever get one" list. Really disappointing, this was the autograph I was the most excited about getting since I've been on this site.

But good work on the autograph communities part for finding the problem and getting quick results, shows we do have some power to change situations like this.

Well we do know as there has been zero denial from all involved. You don’t sign a few real and Autopen the rest , this is a clear sign all we’re autopen and that’s why Indigo have washed their hands of the sorry mess.

I can remember at least a couple artists signing some and not the rest, Lana Del Rey was one, if I remember right Lady Gaga did it. Ozzy signed his vinyls if I remember right but did autopen on his cds on his last album... I'm sure there's others I can't think of right now. Yeah it's unlikely, but I could see someone like Dylan only wanting to sign 20-50 and they say we want to sell 500 books and he signs some and says screw signing that many and tells them to autopen the rest... theyre not going to tell him what to do... and he's the type, if confronted would probably say screw you, you don't get the signed books at all now.

But either way kinda pointless to wonder at this point.

Ozzy U.K. were real and U.S garbage if I remember correctly. So different countries different rules on that one it seems. But this seems like it was an exclusive contract to Indigo so completely different rules would have been in place. Hence why now  these books ain’t hitting the market in NA. Will probably end up in Europe at this rate at a discounted price.
