I bought this album page from Tracks a while back, and it came still inside the original autograph album. I carefully cut the strings binding the album together and removed the page with the Beatles autographs. Only, it turns out the pages are double-sized. The opposite half of the page is blank, with glue stains on the back. I'd like to have the page slabbed by DNA so I can display it without worrying about it getting damaged. Do I just trim it in half with scissors? That seems wrong, but I don't want to fold it and have the back of the glue-stained blank half pressing against the back of the Beatles half. Thanks for any suggestions.

Will, contact Rick Badwey at Museum Framing in Alexandria, VA: http://museumframing.com/

There is no better archival framer, anywhere, in my opinion.

You'll pay PSA/DNA $300 to authenticate your set of Beatles. That could get you one heck of a nice archival framing job, and probably better UV protection.

+1. It has Tracks/P.Wayne. I also wanted to mention it shows when something of vintage is recently trimmed and this turns me off totally.

I’m sold. That’s what I’ll do. I do want to have the original up there, as it’s going in my study, where I work most days (i’m a writer). I’ve never spent more than a few hundred dollars on an autograph before — this one is very, very special to me. Thanks everyone for the assistance. This has been a huge help.

The problem I see with trimming is that there is no way to avoid showing the fact it was trimmed. You either trim it to show the page crease or you trim it clean and have chopped away some ink. That's why for me, I would NOT trim this piece in any way. Something this valuable should be kept in as original condition as possible IMO

BTW... what did you decide?

I’ll leave it as-is, send it to Museum Framing to be framed with two LP covers. One will definitely be Abbey Road. Still deciding which early album to include.

Good choice, glad to hear it

maybe post a pic of the final product if you wish

Try to take it there yourself and meet with Rick. You can look at all the options and make the framing uniquely yours. And Rick is a fount of knowledge on archival protection. You’ll learn a lot from him.

I just want to add another suggestion.

I personally wouldn't frame it with two lp's. It is going to overshadow the signatures which will be small in comparison.

Abbey Road is a GREAT album, but if you are going to frame with an lp, I would probably stick to the period of the signatures. I am assuming this is a 63 or 64 set? Maybe even go with a sleeve from a 45. I really think a period photo would also do it justice.

Just a few suggestions. Keep it about the time in history it was signed.

Indeed, 2 large color items will certainly detract. Small and b/w would seem best.

Thanks Adam! I see what you mean.

I agree with you, Will. Having the real piece displayed makes all the difference.
