1910 signed letter and original mailing envelope (responding to a request to speak at the Canadian Club of New York) from former Canadian Prime Minister Robert Borden. Won in an auction out of B.C. -- and I wasn't aware I won it until a deliveryman showed up at the door asking me to sign for a package before I even paid for the item. The fellow who runs the auction works on the honor system, but he has some great pieces.
I will be holding onto this for a bit (it now makes my Canadian PM collection very nearly a straight run from Charles Tupper (1896) to the present, only missing Alexander Bowell and Arthur Meighen -- both very scarce signatures. I actually had the opportunity to buy a signed Bowell piece from the same seller, but the price ($350 starting bid) was a bit too high for me, and I'm already tapped out this month in terms of my signed book budget, lol.
