Welcome, I appreciate your knowledge in space autographs.

I wish i had an Neil Armstrong, but i was to late. I wrote him in the early 2000 and i got the answer, that he doesn't sign anymore...

Incredible, how many items the same or similar were taken to the moon and then sold?

Comment by Steve Zarelli on March 26, 2016 at 10:35am

It would be quite a research project to figure it out everything that went to the moon. Technically, each astronaut was allowed a small "PPK"... personal preference kit. In this kit many carried small flags, coins, and other personal mementos. In addition to this, NASA would also send flags, medallions, etc. to give to workers and dignitaries later. That is where this flown flag originated from.

In any case, between all the Apollo missions, it certainly totals thousands of small items. For flown items, provenance is essential. You either want it on a NASA created presentation or with a letter from an astronaut verifying the flown status.

Fantastic items Steve. That must have been such a thrill to hold such an historic item!

Thanks for the explanation, watching Neil and Buzz on the moon is part of my childhood and to own something that actually went with them would blow my mind.

I'm sure that so many feel the same way that items such as this would be in demand no matter how many were taken......the supply could never meet the demand IMO.

It really is an honor and privilege to handle some of these historic items. Still sends a chill down my spine when I think I have something in my hands that was on the moon. :-)
