I got that call from a girl I hadn’t heard from in years. It’s that call we all dread. No, no...not that type of call! It’s someone that asked me if I could meet her downtown for the first day of Comic Con, to help her get Conan O’Brien’s autograph. He was going to be filming some shows down there, and she remembered a few years earlier when we attended the…Continue
As a movie critic, I got to the movie screenings a week or two before the films open. I get invited to the screenings in L.A. where the cast usually appear, but...I’m 100 miles away in San Diego. There’s something about driving that far, and dealing with Los Angeles traffic, that doesn’t seem so…Continue
When Autograph magazine used to be something you could find at newsstands, I was sometimes asked to write the Top 10 list of best/worst autograph signers for the years. This sometimes lead to threats of lawsuits (Steve still won’t tell me what A-list actress sent a nasty…Continue
As a member of the press, I usually get free tickets to Comic Con and I report on the various autograph things going on. The last two years I haven’t gone.
A few of my friends did report a few autograph things to me. One said if you wanted Hulk Hogan’s autograph and a picture, it would cost you $80. Another friend told me Linda Blair was signing autographs for…Continue
I always hate when getting an autograph costs me money. Here are examples. If I’m interviewing an actor, I’ll want to buy a movie that they wrote or directed to have them autograph, because they’ll like that a lot more than the big blockbuster they had little to do with.
When I’m going for a musician I like, I learned from the experience I had with Warren Zevon…Continue
There’s a movie coming out in a few weeks called About Time. Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter) finds out when he turns 21, that he can travel in time. He uses this power to get Rachel McAdams to be his girlfriend (hey…it beats trying to find Hitler and assassinate him).
I’m not allowed to write my review about it until its release date, but I wanted to…Continue

Last week on the late night shows, the big news was that Saturday Night Live’s head writer, Seth Myers, would be taking over Jimmy Fallons slot when he moves over to The Tonight Show next year.
Well, what I enjoyed about the shows last week was all the talk about autographs.
Kimmel was talking about how ridiculous it was that Dennis Rodman sent a tweet asking North Korea’s leader a favor. This, of course, after Rodman went there and was hanging out with…Continue
The late night shows had a few good autograph stories. Tonight on Conan O’Brien, Friends actor Matthew Perry was talking about being shown at a hockey game and booed by the entire crowd. Later, a bunch of people surrounded him asking for autographs. He said “You guys booed me earlier.” He said that all of them said “Not me, I didn’t boo.”
The night before, Jimmy Fallon had Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Fallon was telling a story about how they talked about lemons and other…Continue
