I've been exposing Ebay sellers of forgeries for twenty years.
I've observed hundreds of ugly and laughable forgeries of Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Derek Jeter, Sandy Koufax, etc.
But the below forged Derek Jeter 1992 Classic card is by far the ugliest and most laughable forged Derek Jeter I have ever observed.
It is listed by Ebay seller Mercersportscards.
As we all know, Ebay is heavily-populated with delusional autograph collectors and impulse buyers, which makes selling forgeries on Ebay easier than selling authentic autographs.
People assume that Ebay filters out the forgeries and nothing could be further from the truth.
But even the people who purchase forgeries on a consistent basis on Ebay, won't bid on this garbage, although they might surprise me.
Look at this laughable forged Derek Jeter.

Something needs to be done about Ebay. But how can we do something to fix it? Anybody have any ideas?
Andrew, there was a solution years ago, but Ebay abandoned it years ago when they realized they were losing a ton of money from the sales of forgeries.
How did Ebay used to do it?
One of the worst and most criminally culpable steps they ever made was to mask the identity of bidders/buyers.
Anyone with any integrity who could recognize an obvious fake would then be able to contact the bidder and appraise them of their folly.
Yes, that facility was open to abuse but...
So true, Findbooks.
