So, my girlfriend and I are watching TV. I see a commercial for the latest animated movie, Planet 51 (I'm sure our resident Sci Fi guy will give us some good info on that film). Anyway, I hear a character say to an astronaut, "You're an astronaut! Can I have your autograph?"

And a second later, my girlfriend said "Hey...Johnny Depp signed..." and I interrupted her to say "Yeah, he's such a great autograph signer. He's been on the cover of Autograph, as the Top signer."

She looked confused and said "Well, he's on People as the magazines sexiest male star, but that's not what I was talking about. I was going to say he signed on to do another Pirates of the Carribean movie."

I then laughed, saying "I'm so into talking about autographs, I hear someone say the word 'sign' and I'm assuming they mean the person signed an autograph."

Then, of course, another show has Robert Pattison (sp?), the actor from Twilight that all the girls love. Access Hollywood said he was signing lots of autographs before the premiere of the latest in that series.

Speaking of Johnny, TMZ ran a video clip of Johnny leaving a restaurant the other night totally blitzed. But you've gotta love it - even in that state, he was signing autographs all the way to the car.

I would love to see some autograph authenticators look at those autographs and give an opinion. LOL!

He is absolutely the best when it comes to taking time for his fans and signing, and in this particular instance, I think he went above and beyond in accommodating his fans. Cheers, Johnny!

I had that recorded, and just watched it 30 minutes ago! He is great with fans.

That's one of the problems I've always had with authenticators. You have to think, there are times they are wrong, because someone signs while drunk (or high), or they sign while they are running and walking fast, and it looks different. And yes, I do understand they take all that into consideration and are looking for different characteristics, but still.

And, what about a star that spells there own name wrong? Yes, I've had a few do that over the years. One being Todd RUndgren. He's signing a photo I took of him with RIngo starr and Joe Walsh on stage. He loved the shot and said he had never seen it. And he started to write "ringo", and then signedh is name over that. Imagine trying to sell that, and having to explain why it says "Rin-gren"

I know what you mean. Something interesting happened about a month ago.

I am a fan of Maks Chmerkovskiy, one of the pro dancers on Dancing With The Stars. As a lark, I checked on eBay for any items for sale relating to Maks. I came across an autographed photo and immediately thought "this is a forgery."

I looked at the autograph he signed for me when he was at his dance studio and not in any hurry (his good friend who assists him at the studio got it for me) and then looked back at the one for sale on eBay. No way, I told myself. So I decided to go to the source. I sent a Tweet to Maks with the link to the autograph on eBay and said "Is this your signature?" He replied that, indeed, he had signed it.

Who would have thought? The signature on eBay was nothing more than a messy "M" and mine had most of his last name on it. So there you have it ....buying autographs from a third party is very tricky for a novice like me.

I think Johnny Depp would play in 10 more pirate movies if they would make them.
