I only met Oliver Stone once. It was at CinemaCon in Las Vegas years ago, and a luncheon with a few big name directors (Guillermo del Toro being one). The directors had the most interesting things to say about filmmaking and it was an incredible lunch.
As I saw him walking to the escalator the same time as me, I wanted to say, "Why did you make such a horrible movie about my favorite band The Doors?" Instead, I thought I'd be more polite. I simply said, "So...what's your favorite Doors song?"
He smiled and said, "I don't know. It's hard to pick one. I like 'em all."
I didn't ask for his autograph. I'm not a big enough fan, and...when I'm at an event like that, I don't like to bug the talent for signatures. It sometimes looks unprofessional if you do that.
