Sorry Steve, I was a bit impulsive filling out my profile...just wanted to express my interest without being presumptous. I am more interested in autographs as an 'alternative asset class" to other investments than I am as an enthusiast. That being said, I am always interested in keeping an eye on the professionals and the industry as a whole.
My apologies for summarizing my voyeurism as 'watching the drama' - my profle has been revised.
Your efforts and the inherent allure of autographs, in my humble opinion, will continue to contributed to the integrity of a market that has great potential - and I am interested in forums like this that benefit the greater good (investors, authenticators, historians, autioneers, dealers and of course collectors).
Cream always rises to the top...thank you, and keep up the good work.
Hi Steve, so glad I found this website !!!! This article on Autograph Central blows me away!!
How can these fakes keep being sold ????????
I have been too trusting of people but that has changed. It's a sad comment on a great hobby.
I'll give it a try for awhile and see if it keeps my interest. Just an FYI to all concerned. I have used the Harvey Meiselman sports lists for the past 2 years and they are the greatest. Anyone else have good results with his lists?
Certainly would make sense based on his blindness age and the academic challenges he faced.

In an interview some time before Mr. Charles' death, he was purported to have stated that "I'll never sign anything I can't see". I have a signed photo of Ray and have often questioned it's authenticity. It looks secretarial with VERY neat handwriting...DT
Hi Randy,
All his signatures are questioned, because he signed so little--some say no at all, but I don't believe that. What you probably have is a secretarial by Vernon Troope, his valet and constant companion. I don't have one handy, but it's fairly big and flowing and easy to read. Ray went blind when he was little so his signature wouldn't likely have the polish of an adult's--and none that I've seen and felt could be real did.
I have some brail Playboys Vernon signed. We got together for lunch a number of years ago and he told me the story: Ray Charles was a voracious reader and left brail magazines in every hotel he stayed in. The housekeeping staff would always send them to his next stop, thinking he forgot them. The next hotel would take them up to his room...and on and on. Well they were getting sick of this, so Vernon had the brilliant idea of signing each magazine Ray Charles. Sure enough...no magazine was ever forwarded again.
Hello Steve,
Mine are signed in BEST WISHES Ray Charles. They were sent to his former managers office in the late 1990's. Did Ray Charles know how to sign his own name? Do you have any examples of his actual signature? Thanks Steve.
Randy

Thanks- that's a great idea (like I know).
Take digital photos of each and then upload in an album.
Are you restricted to the number you upload at a given time and what is the preferred size of the .jpg file?
Also, is there a market for the Playmate/Scream Queen items and what are the restrictions on the "nudity" issue?
Thank you!

Thanks! I figured I'd update it ... the other one was 2 or 3 years old.
Best,
