About 4yrs back I found myself in a position where my house cleaner had seen me cleaning some of my guns and asked me if I knew much about guns. I told her I'm not an expert but I know a little. She then told me perhaps i could help her nephew that had told her about a sased off double barrel shotgun him and a friend of his had found in the wall of one of the dilapidated barns they had taken down for his friends uncles some weeks before about 3 hours west of Topeka. That being March of 2017. It seems they'd found this gun with an extra barrel inside the bottom of a wall half buried in silt and dust. She didn't have these details. I got the details from him. His concern was that he was having trouble breaking the gun open. He wanted to see if it could fire. It could not and would not ever again. It is an N.R. Davis & Sons 12guage Damascus steel Twist. It's been rusted shut mor many decades. After telling the young man this I asked if he'd ever tried ta take the stock off as I proceeded to take it off. He didn't know what I was talking about. Here's where it gets interesting. Upon removing the stock I about fell over as it had a name it looks to have been carved/burned into it. It read "Do Holliday" as well as the number "2" stamped into the barrel. I showed it to him and asked him if he knew what that meant. He didn't know of whom I spoke. (youth of today) I tried to explain who he was but he was unbiased and uninterested. I own the gun since then but have been hesitant to take it anywhere. I've reached a point where I'd like to get it looked at for authentication purposes. I've been browsing the internet looking and I'd run across you comments on this page and they struck as being from someone that would be intolerant of as well as versed in in so far as the authenticity of an item such as this. And perhaps you could help or at least point me to a person or place to present this gun for that purpose. I live in Kansas city Mo. You can reach me here or my phone # is 816-583-3770. Thank you for your time
