I obtained this autograph from a collector who knew Robert White (was mentored by White) for over 20 years. I believe it's authentic but would like your opinions. Thank you.

If it's the same collector I think it is, he was trying to move a number of apparently bad Kennedy items, and a few MLKs. Same story, Robert White. Guy disappeared from eBay. There were enough issues that after consulting with other more experienced collectors that I took a pass.

That doesn't sound good. I talked to the guy on the phone and know who he is, so he's not trying to hide but I'm feeling less secure about this. Is there a reliable authenticator that you can recommend if I wanted to get this checked?

Thanks so much

JT

Ask members Herman Darvick and Andreas Wiemer if they'd be kind enough to give their opinions on authenticity. They're both good on JFK.

I'll do that, Steve. Thank you so much

Jt

I spoke to him on the phone as well, but needless to say once I started raising some concerns about the items - in particular some of the inscriptions were "off" from the way JFK typically phrased them and a few other "tells" - the calls and conversations became less cordial.

I agree with everything hitmanten said in his comment ...

Additional info:  This is the description of te autograph prior to sale. Robert White was not mentioned until I spoke on the phone with the seller.

A nice example of then senator Kennedy signature cut from album page.Comes from prominent JFK collector with a note from original owner dated November 9 1959.Lagrande Oregon.Could be framed making a nice display.Signed in blue ink.The word 'from' in JFK's hand.Matches known exemplars from Charles Hamilton's auctions,UACC,study materials and other authentic JFK sold items at auction.

The Autograph looks authentic to me, I looked at a few studies, and seem to be right on the money. Too bad it's a cut, would be worth lot more if it was a book.

Who would cut an album page like that and why? There is enough information here to pass on collecting this item.

I have many album cuts like this one, unfortunately it diminishes the value, I would pass on it too if the price was too high. Very nice example of Kennedy's signature, but I would not pay more than $500 or $600.

I have Weimer's autograph study, and I think this is fake. It's hard with kennedy stuff because there were so many variations, but this one just doesn't feel right. It has speed with it but it also shows signs in areas where it just looks like someone else who had some practice with his signature and tried to execute it, and didn't quite get it.

I'd stay away.

I stay away from cuts too, I prefer books and Letters, I personally believe it's a good Kennedy Autograph. I suggest that you incorporate in your library Charles Hamilton's book on The Robot that helped make the president,  Paul Carr study, and John Reznikoff's Kennedy study.
