Well, at least it's "genuine."

And the signature is much nicer than what he typically puts on bodies.

Ultimately I guess it just depends what you want to collect.

I got him on a Hofner body and he shook his hand purposely. The signature looked 100% fake, so one can argue that my truly presented Hofner body is garbage compared to these beautiful book Hofners.

Crazy hobby.

If you look at the top right corner of the 2 pearloid attached, around the pick-ups you can see how they're badly cut, probably with a dremel. Funny examples.

Then there is this 3rd (white) one attached which isn't a bad cut, but the eBay seller offering this one was using pictures I took of Mick Jagger and portraying them as his own "exact proof" to sell $13,000 Stones guitars... so my trust in that one is now completely void.

Thank you all for the input.  I did a little more research and I see exactly what you are talking about now.  On Ebay it appears that very many guitars are actually not signed "guitars", but rather items cut to look like pickguards.  The worst perpetrator is AutographPros, who I see posts here quite frequently.  Would it be possible to have him chime in.  It seems that most of AutographPros guitars are actually fakes that have been mentioned in this thread.  There are others, but he is the only one I saw who I know posts here.

Are you sure? Autograph Pros only has one on their website, and they're clear it's signed on a repurposed pickguard:

99% of the guitars that Autograph Pros sell are signed on normal guitar pickguards, since his team of collectors nationwide have been carrying guitar pickguards with them full-time since the mid-90s. And he definitely takes authenticity seriously.

What you may see commonly, which can be a little confusing, are people scanning actual autographed pickguards and creating a digital example in their online listings of how the pickguard will look when installed on a guitar body. Another example of a seller who does this is John Brennan of VIP Autographs. I will attach a sample of one of their Neil Diamond signed pickguards which is digitally displayed on a guitar.

This digital representation of a truly signed pickguard is different from a repurposed pickguard. I've flipped through boxes and boxes of signed pickguards from VIP and the pickguards are as genuine as can be. Most typically strat and tele style.

Indeed. Some are careless enough to have the pick-guard screws in the wrong spots when Photoshopping a 50's vs. 60's Star etc. 8 vs 11 hole and all that.

as some one who actualy had 4000 signed guitars on there body at one time there is a diffrence in price for on the body and pickguard.

and if you look closely to there pictures there not realy on the guitars yet the just place them so u can see what they would look like if u bought the itiem. most are sold on very cheap guiatars.

yes most are real but it realy drove down the price off signed guitars years ago and its one off the reasons that alot off the artists stopped signing them becuase so many people were chasing them around with them.brian may townshend and many more

alot off artisted had to be boarded in order to get them to sign pickguards
