INK. Why does the ink do that? I'm not really interested in who met who - the ink remains right here and why is it doing what stamps do?

he used a pen in his hand and signed it himself and that's how it came out. Simple as that. I realise that you are not interested in the back story but the offer is still there if you are in UK.

What kind of pen causes that? Does the back story explain why that ink is behaving like a stamp? I am asking you why that last ending deposit, marked with the arrow in my inverted scan, has "edges" but no "filling"?

Lets leave it there. I'll take it on the nose that you are saying Paul is lying and didn't meet and get an autograph off Ray. That's fine, I've got thick skin. However if you are in UK and a genuine autograph enthusiast then the offer is still there to take look at this item and the entire collection and talk to Paul about his experience. It's a unique collection and much more than just this one autograph. If your not interested other than to win a point on a forum - -which is what i suspect - then fine we will have it your way - we must be liars! Offer is still open though if you are a genuine autograph enthusiast and in UK.

Wow! I did not say or imply whatever the heck you are going on about now.

Once more - INK. WHY does the ink do what it is doing? That is all I am asking you to address. I'll "leave it" where I like, thanks :)

Come and look at it yourself if you want, the offer is there but I don't expect you will. As I said Ray had a pen in his hand and he signed it and that's how it came out. If Ray was alive you can query him about his pen. If you are genuine then come and take a look at it in person. Will you do that?

I believe Paul, but it's easy for memories about long ago events to change. The Ray Charles paper could have been signed by an assistant... they often were. But Paul may have forgotten that it wasn't signed in front of him after 50+ years. It's not uncommon.

Regarding the stamp one, I agree with you, it's strange that we haven't seen them before. But it has all the signs of a stamp, so to me it clearly is.

Yes Steve that must be it! He's forgotten or its a stamp. Thanks for the opinions. Offer is open to you also if you want to view it and the entire collection and pick his brains and memory about anyone he met. You might be surprised how sharp his memory is.

Paul did only collect face to face. There was only one occasion he recalled having something passed backstage and that was seeing Jet Harris and Tony Meehan (you may not know them) so that autograph has been discarded. he did meet Jet and Tony a few more times before and after that, many times at the ATV TV studios where Paul was a regular in the TV audience for the filming of Thank Your Lucky Stars where he met many stars. He does have the scripts/running orders for many of those shows as they were handed out to the audience at the end if they wanted them. So only one autograph came from back stage. He's no chump and realised even at 15 years old that the autograph coming back could have been done by anyone. Meeting Ray was a big deal.

post the beatles and stones-

I don't have to show you one, for there are several rather obvious indications this is a stamp that need explanation, other examples notwithstanding. You have made no attempt to explain the problematic ink deposits and other that have been described and demonstrated.

"Show me one! I'll be waiting for ever. Ebay and the auction houses would be awash with them but they are not, they are full of clearly fake polished autographs that even I couldn't sign that neatly like the example at the top of this post. I'd expect if he did have a stamp then it would look like the original posters autograph. I can I think say to a level of 100% that no-one will ever show me a stamp that matches this autograph." - Phil Spilsbury

OK. I said it would take time. Here you are:
