I purchased a 1964 Beatles poster with autographs.  Nothing came with the poster to verify that the autographs were authentic.  Are these authentic?

Have you used the AutographMagazineLive search engine, to see if your seller has been mentioned here before?

I can see your point but you have to keep in mind that we are dealing with subtleties here. People who are considered good at identifying genuine and fake autographs usually develop the talent by study and experience.

To them a fake autograph might jump out at them as being fake without them ever having to think why on a conscious level; they are so used to seeing the genuine thing that a fake autograph will just look off to them.

If someone doesn’t have that experience then any description a knowledgeable person might provide really won’t mean that much to somebody who isn’t.

I think that there is still value in educated opinions either with or without descriptions of the reasoning behind them, of course if the questions are asked before a purchase it’s much easier to give short answers because you might not feel any desire to be tactful in your response.

Either way I feel a concensus of answers from those with experience can still mean a lot.

Thank you. For a person who is not familiar with the validating autographs, I was totally lost when I saw all the responses telling me the autographs were fake.  To the amateur, like me, the autographs looked so similar to the authenticated ones I saw.

I didn't understand. As an artist and graphic designer, I get frustrated when people do not understand the experience it takes to accomplish some of  the work I produce. The same must be true for people experienced in the art of authenticating some written material.

I apologize for questioning all the responses I had received. I guess I wanted, so badly, for the autographs to be real.

Again, thank you for the help.  I am very grateful to you and everyone who shared their expert knowledge on this situation.

Mary, if I may be so bold what is the name of the auction house? And how long ago was the purchase made?

I will not try to get my money back because I love the poster. As a huge Beatle fan, as I'm sure a lot of you are, I don't care about the money that is already spent.

Mostly, for myself, I wanted to know if the autographs were authentic.

This also taught me a valuable lesson.  I just found this site and all of you people have been so helpful and thoughtful.

Thank you so much for caring. I really appreciate it.

I'm sorry to say, but whatever value the poster had has been removed by the addition of the scribbling in ball point pen. I am sorry you won't pursue a refund.

The most important value, of the poster, is to me.  I do not care about the money or the defacing of the poster.  It's from a time I cherish.

Thank you again; I appreciate all the information.  This information has given me a lot of valuable information.

Thank you.

You are very welcome :) Always willing to help you. We all are.

I only paid $400 for this autographed poster; therefore, I am keeping it and will not attempt to get my money back.

That's $400 too much. If the auction house believes that the signatures are authentic, they should be absolutely thrilled to have them back at that price. Why not try to get that money back and put it towards something authentic?

Thank you, but, I am going to keep the poster. It's from a time I cherish even if it's not worth anything.  It's worth a lot to me.

It's your money, of course, but there's genuine, fairly priced original Beatles memorabilia to be had for that amount.
