New Ebay Forger new2meagaindavid offering many Rock and Roll Fakes! (Pink Floyd, Springsteen, M.Jackson, etc)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pink-Floyd-HAND-SIGNED-X-4-The-Wall-Vintage...

Some of the forgeries aren't half bad and can fool those at first glance. (If you check his other listings and past sales)

He's made 1000's or more dollars in the past 6 months.

Of course, Ebay will do nothing.

It is very strange that they are both identical, if anything, I cant imagine that Bowie, or any person for that matter will write the same thing in 2 different signings, unless it was inscribed at the same location, but the writing and sig do seem fairly similar to me

Well, the may appear similar, but they are very, very different. They are far from "identical" other then in basic presentation. Look at the genuine on the left. Look at the fast, deliberate nature of the up-and-down creation, vertically, of the word "with". Then look at the LP on the right.

It's called "having an eye for autographs."

Eric has it, I have it, as do numerous members here.

Always remember that forgeries are meant to have the appearance of looking authentic.

That's why the "Forgery Industry" is so huge, and the forgers and sellers of forgeries know that.

Ebay is heavily-populated with delusional autograph collectors and impulse buyers and that's why the selling of forgeries on Ebay is so easy.

Than you, Christopher. You are correct about some buyers - this seller had a Charles Schulz Snoopy drawing close for $100. One look at the true value of an original signed drawing...

I have been buying collectibles for many many years off eBay as well as other sites, and this is really the first time I encounter someone who:

A. Has many items sold that look very authentic

B. Seller with a reputable history (been active since 2009 98.8% fb score)

C. Engages with buyers

And so, as much as I respect anything that is said here, we are still on the internet, and as you may very well know, the internet is full of "people who know better than others" And I mean that respectfully (not trying to start internet wars lol)

Again, Im just emphasizing on the fact that this seller is reputable (history+high feedback score) and has items that seem legit as opposed to many many sketchy sellers I come across on a daily basis who have poor description and often visible counterfeit items (which usually also reflects in their low/bad feedback score)

Jonathan, years ago there was a seller on Ebay who sold approximately $750,000 in forgeries.  He sold autographed drum sticks, autographed guitars, guitar pics, etc.

He never sold one authentic autograph and he had 100% Positive Feedback.

Ebay finally booted him.

That same seller is still selling the same crap on their own website.

Ebay feedback is irrelevant when it comes to forgeries. The people who bought them aren't suddenly aware when they receive the item. If they were duped a few days earlier, odds are nothing has changed a couple days later.

Rich is absolutely correct.

When you read some of that feedback it will read something like "Fast shipping, Great seller."

Positive Feedback has zero to do with the authenticity of the item.

+1 for Richard and Christopher. Feedback does not address authenticity in any way.

I appreciate that Jonathan. To me, this doesn't look authentic at all. His seller history tells me little as does his feedback. If he is selling this stuff and folks are buying it that says, to me, someone shipped something to a less-than stellar collector. You might infer something from his feedback I do not. That he engages with buyers...perhaps that is to make a sale? I saw his response to you - I did not care for it. It was another version of "Estate Sale", "we don't know"...what did he really say?

At the end of the day, this signature should appear genuine and hold its own against others from the period. I don't see that here.

Instead, I see an alarming number of problems. I would very surprised if anyone here thinks this is actually genuine.

Here are another two genuine examples of Bowie signed LP's from the same signing as the Scary Monsters on the left above, with the same "Mike" inscription. The Aladdin Sane might be called "rushed". My comments from earlier apply here as well re observations. Click for larger/whole images:

Below are signatures made by a fan on the Internet. None of these pass muster either (the dates are out of alignment with the signing styles for one thing), but they show why hypervigilance is necessary. I call it "vigilance" but I am told otherwise. That is OK ;)

I just want to mention, you can hit your A, B and C and also add in a certificate to boot and still easily bury yourself. None of what I just mentioned addresses the autograph or its authenticity.
