I recently won this item on Julien's Auction and would like to get some opinions on the signature. I believe the signature is genuine, but of course I would like to read some of your opinions. What do you think? This was originally owned by Michael's personal physician, Dr. Steven Hoefflin. Judging from the release date of the newspaper and the signature style, I believe this might have been signed around 1984.

Thank you all for your help,

Here is an exert from the Julien’s Auction catalogue where Dr. Steven Hoefflin writes about how he obtained these signed items:

After reading that I have to ask, then why just a newspaper?

The newspaper features a great article on the Jacksons Victory Tour starting and Michael becoming a superstar.

I suppose my last comment will be this sig does not strike me  as that of a megastar. It looks meek.

I've seen similar ones by Jackson many times, and I've seen untold thousands over the years.

+1

The ink doesnt stand on its own, IMHO

And there is too much doubt as to the source and the story.

Not one I would buy or sell.

"And there is too much doubt as to the source and the story."

Your now doubting the entire collection?

No, Im doubting that I can trust a doctor who apparently drugged MJ to get autographs. Why should I trust him on anything else?

And didnt Julien’s sell the Bush stuff?

1. Atypical sig with little to no flair or personality.

2. Acquired by a doctor who may have been drugging MJ illegally for personal gain.

3. Signed off for by Juliens who sold all kinds of stuff supposedly signed by MJ that I dont think is real.

Believe all you want. You might be right. Still doesnt make it a sig I would buy or sell personally.

Thats all folks!

Could you also please go over what you mean by the signature not showing much flair or personality? On the reverse side, I see the usual high and low pressure points that are present on almost all Michael Jackson signature of that time period.

Please, let not make assumptions on what the physician might have done or not done. Any patient will be under some sort of anesthesia for a surgical procedure, that does not make a physician a criminal or an unreliable source. The lawsuit that was previously mentioned resulted in all parties agreeing that the lawsuit had no factual bases. Yes, Julien's Auction did sell memorabilia that was supposedly signed by Michael Jackson owned by Michael Bush. Michael Bush was selling high-end items that would always bring in a lot of bids regardless. Bush used that money to travel across the world. Dr. Steven Hoefflin is an accomplished physician who doesn't need to forge an autograph to make an income.

Because it's a local newspaper and had an article on the Jacksons.
