Hello. First time poster.

I was looking for some opinions, on wether this signature is real or not. What are your opinions? This is supposedly made in 1981. Please let me know! Thank you.

Great, congratulations. But what happens if/when you go to sell and show the provenance and a prospective buyer says "...that's not accurate - I pass..."? Or will you leave out the provenance? To me such a glaring question of likely mistaken provenance is like a cloud. Did you ask Conway's about the date? Kevin is a member here.

Conway is owned by Kevin right? If so I did ask him about it, and hes adamant about it that it was in 1981. Also, im never gonna resell it. this is a Item that will most likely stay with me

Even if the date is not accurate, all I care about is that its genuine.

Did anyone in this thread think it was signed in 1981? Who actually obtained the signature? Did Kevin get it himself? Is that how he is so certain? Or is a second-hand story? Did Roger think it was from 1981 and see the provenance as posted? The story is worrisome because it appears it is not true. If so, why is it there?

kevin obtained it himself in person from the bodyguard at that time

Roger didnt really give a opinion wether it was from 1981 or not. all he said was that it was genuine.

That's good. If you are satisfied that is all that really matters :) Enjoy your new MJ!

Thank you!

Well congratulations, Nigel!  I know all about that I-can’t-wait-to-get-it feeling.  Every time a new autograph arrives in the mail, I feel like a kid again on Christmas morning...even though I already know what my “present” will be.  Enjoy your piece of the King of Pop!

Congratulations, Nigel! I've read through this discussion and, for what it's worth, I believe this MJ signature is genuine. The ink tells the story best. People's memories can play tricks on them. The more distant the memory the more cloudy the details can get.

The ink is the bottom line.

Thanks all. The feeling of getting this signature is a real rush.

I'm a bit worried of getting addicted to it haha, especially since some autographs are so expensive.

also, does anybody know how to preserve the best method to preserve a autograph like this? For example, with baseball cards they use this hard case, that protects them from everything. I tried googling it, but couldnt find anything.

Any help would be great!

thanks!

This imo is def a legit item.  I would not be afraid of this sig at all nor the story.  Its pretty damn close to 81 if its not 81, as he was transitioning into that style in early early early 80's. (Looped slender J and a tall N)
