Found these baseballs when cleaning out stuff. would appreciate thoughts as to authenticity. Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, JOE DiMaggio and cal Ripken Jr. before I spend $$ getting authenticated would like folks’ opinions if it’s worth attempting to do so. Thanks in advance this is my first post.
these were apparently ordered from a Lillian Vernon catalogs in the early 90s
Negatory on the Mantle and DiMaggio.
By the way... I never heard of signed memorabilia being sold through Lillian Vernon catalog. Interesting.
Thank you - yes actually my parents said one of my aunts sold Lillian Vernon stuff and they bought these at a discount directly through the catalog. I got these for Christmas one year and just found them recently after cleaning out a bedroom. Mantle is expensive to authenticate so I appreciate the thoughts.
These forgery styles were distributed through Home Shopping Network and other outlets like that. Obviously the seller didn’t know they were bad; they were scammed by the distributor who provided these. So it doesn’t surprise me that Lillian Vernon would have them, I just never heard of it before.
Mantle and DiMaggio are fake. Mays looks ok. Ripken, I would lean toward no.
Thanks, appreciate your perspective.
Doesn't get any worse than these. However, I agree with Steve. The Mays looks alright.
No on the dimaggio
mays looks good IMO
ripken bothers me
i don’t know enough about mantle, but it looks slow and methodical to me
UPDATE: Mantle, DiMaggio and MAYS failed!
Ripken was real. Thanks ALL!
Ripken was real?
Yikes.
Yes got PSA cert.
Ha ha, honestly having seen this thread now, I would have presumed they all were "Operation Bullpen" Marino specials.
