I have an opinion about this item, but would like to know what others think about it with regard to authenticity.
The Beatles - Full set of original autographs of the Fab Four including Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr on a photograph, 15. 19.5 cm. Authenticated by REAL - Roger Epperson Authentication Ltd. Provenance: The owner who consigned this photo lived as a child in Llandudno, North Wales with her family. During the summer of 1963, her mother worked sometimes in a souvenir kiosk on Llandudno Pier. One of the attendants at the pier (Richie Astall) had autographed photographs of the Beatles, on display in his office, which he had obtained from the Fab Four when they played at the local Odeon Cinema, for a week, during August of that year. Mr Astall was wheelchair bound and was able to watch the bands from the front row. This gave him easy access to the performers as they left the stage. Knowing the vendor was a Beatles fan and too young to attend the Beatles’ gig, Mr Astall gave her a signed autograph which she has kept in her possession all these years.
Great find, Steve. You have a photo signed by three, and the fourth signature was added later.
Actually, in looking more closely at the image you posted, it looks like the Lennon signature may have been removed.
Agreed there does seem to be some residual ink left after the John signature was removed. So does that indicate that Ewbanks sold it with all 4 signatures with Roger’s authentication? Then someone bought it and there was a second opinion on the John autograph and someone decided to remove the doubtful signature. Because after seeing the photo Steve’ posted that photo can no longer have 4 signatures on it?
There are two different signed photos. The one in the OP is from an upcoming Ewbank’s auction and still has the Lennon signature intact.
The second one I posted was sold by RR w/o the Lennon in 2014 and you're right, Ballroom. A secretarial was removed:

"Vintage glossy 6 x 7.5 deckle-edge photo of the band posing along the railing of a ship, issued by Star Pictures in England as "SP583" in 1963, signed in fountain pen, "Paul McCartney," "George Harrison," and "Ringo Starr." In fine condition, with a faint impression of a Lennon secretarial signature which has been neatly removed, and is visible only at an angle. Signatures were obtained backstage at the Odeon Cinema, Llandudno, Wales between August 12-17, 1963. The band played two shows a night for six consecutive days at the Odeon in the midst of their lengthy summer tour.
Thanks. I believe the one you posted originally came with an LOA from Tracks indicating that Neil Aspinall signed for John. I believe the John signature in the OP is also in the hand of Neil. Apparently Paul, George and Ringo signed several of these photos and in some cases Neil finished the set.
Now that is interesting and odd at the same time!!
“Mr Astall was wheelchair bound and was able to watch the bands from the front row. This gave him easy access to the performers as they left the stage.”
So the band is leaving the stage perhaps after the show and Mr Astall is able to get to them and ask them to sign this fan club photo. I’m assuming there must have been more/other fans also doing the same thing. That being the case could have meant there were multiple pens floating around. So perhaps John and Ringo signed first and second but wouldn’t pass on the pen they signed with. But by the time George and or Paul got the photo (third) they were already sharing a pen? The same scenario for the other photo posted that was clearly signed at the same time. I’m thinking something’s not right with either of these signed photos!!!
I hadn’t seen that. Thanks for the link!
That's a great find - it's hard to ignore the similarity of the two Lennon's.
