I'm curious what everyone thinks of this ball. In addition to the unusual "angular" nature of some of the letters, the formation of the upper part of the "g" does not look right. I am not looking to buy this, just trying to learn.
I believe PSA made the right decision on authenticating this ball....Joe Dimaggio in my opinion is truly an extremely hard name to pin point fakes due to his autograph being so unconsistant over the years even with authentic variations and from what I have heard Joe being a really "Moody guy" which I am certain played in a BIG part of how he signed his name throughout the years...that being said I have seen flat out fakes which are very EASY to spot...but I would say pin pointing an authentic version is MUCH more harder...the best and the most affordable way to own an authentic Dimaggio auto is getting one from the 1993 Pinnacle set...ruffly cost between 100-200 bucks and there all over eBay...a great piece and a great price for an authentic version...and even those autos in that set don't look anything like each other I would say do to being rushed...there's 4 different versions of this card with 4 different images...all signed on the bottom in black

check that authentic version out...none of these autos look at all alike
how about this one??? I do think this one is real, because everything else about it is right on, but look at the lower loops of the g!
