juliens auctions, bidding online in timed auctions

Has anyone bid online with Juliens?  If so  how do the timed auctions work?  Does  item   number 5 end at the same time as number 29?  I have reached out to Juliens but I havent really got a clear answer from them. Do you bid at the last second like ebay? thanks

That's odd that you are left feeling that you have not had a clear answer.  It would seem that customer service would be able to answer any and all questions to your satisfaction as a potential bidder.  I'd try again to seek an "official" answer from one of their reps. that is perfectly clear and understandable.

I was curious so I looked at the fine print on the Julien's site.  From what I can gather, it seems that the lots are sold consecutively one after another during the live auctions.

There's this from their terms and conditions: "During a live auction the auctioneer may open any Lot by bidding on behalf of the Consignor and may bid up to the amount of the Reserve, by placing successive or consecutive bids for a Lot or Bids in response to other Bidders."

If the auctioneer is actively bidding up the price of a given lot for the consignor/owner against other bidders, then it would seem they would be taking each lot in order in real time to do that.

Maybe others have had experience with them and can clarify.

thanks for looking Etienne

I've bi but not for a while and have been the only bidder and been outbid and have had items extend and then people outbid me and also had items end with only one bid so I'm not certain

so how long  does the item extend for Dan?  I think they put very low estimates on to encourage high bidding paradoxically.  Were you outbid in the last minute on the item?

From memory it extended 30 minutes every time someone bid and kept extending so some auctions could last hours

coorect there estimates are way to low prably 1/4 to 1/10 of real value they do it on purpose

its a real auction one lot after another not like ebay

you cant snipe

thanks for he clear answer Marc.  And do you know if their shipping prices are reasonable or not over the pond? They are very slow at replying

there very slow about  alot shipping takes up to 2 months after the auction ends . usuly 6 to 8 weeks . mine took 7 weeks to get me and i live very close to them yes i was shock .ps they slam your credit card instantanly for payment

no auction houses shipping rates are resonable  with that in mind just depend what u are buying

ecpect 50$ for a poster at a minum .they dont use tubes everything is flat packed

ive paid alot worse than them

rule of thumb add 40% percent to what ever you buy to the hammer price and u will be pretty safe  thats what i do

so if i pay 1k i expect to pay 1400$ all in to get the poster to me/shipping and fees

you just have to learn how to buy right

i bought a 600$ itiem at heritage and it cost   841 $ in all to get it to me .

i just relize it was u and u want to know about international shipping

can u find the same thing at bonhams in london it would much eiser for just a suggestion or one of the other auction houses .

PM ME WHAT ITIEM U WANT AND UR ADDRESS I DEAL DIRECTLY WITH THEM ILL GET U A QOUTE AND KEEP IT PRIVATE BETWEEN US.

I HAVE DIRECT EMAILS .IF THAT HELPS YOU ILL BE HAPPY TO HELP OUT
