You are wasting your time with Martha and  Waterstones ,  that's who i had contact with and sent several messages with the proof and photos off here..... I also accused her of being blind.... she finished by telling  me to contact the publisher directly  - these fake books  were bought from Waterstones. This is Waterstones problem as well as the publishers

You're probably right. I wont get anywhere talking to someone who lives in their own world where they are always right even when they are wrong. I had to try though.. even if it ends up being a waste of time, I still encourage others to keep trying. We could still wear them down at some point.

Those little differences are caused by "smushing" the pen.

I wish I could test one of these machines in person. I was wondering if you could program them to have a small random offset between words. Ive never seen examples of other books that were autopenned which had this many slight differences. I dont doubt you though. I havent seen many autopens used with a marker either.

You can get variation just by jostling the machine, using a smushed pen or perhaps likely today by the push of a button.

Has anyone made and sent a large clear overlay that is incontrovertable? Like the one I made last time around?

I think you need something like this. Showing side by side will never make a dent - this composite I made below last time really can't be argued.

HI.  I follow some advice from you and made inquiries with my credit card. Mine accept disputes up to 6 months (did not know that) but because I missed the 6 month mark by 4 days, I was instructed to send in a dispute letter with the Chronicle invoice.

I agree with 5816nick that Dolly's people will not refute any accusation that will besmirch their golden goose.  Wish me luck!

I was about to start on that but won't be on my desktop for a while. Ive saved about 20 different examples on my phone so far. Shouldnt take long once I'm able to get started

Good. If I felt better I'd do it myself. You need to spell it out and leave no wiggle room verbally or visually.

You did an awesome job with that one! We are a community. Everyone has to do a part, not just one guy. Ill get something made up as soon as I can but its a pretty hectic weekend for us

Yesterday I sent out my six letters to Dolly at different addressees.  I let her know how much this controversy is hurting her good name.

There is every chance that she has no idea about any of this. It may be the fault of a manager or assistant.  The publisher probably doesn't know, and the bookstores are just passing along the assurances that have been passed down to them.

Most signed editions involve pages being signed and then tipped/glued into the book by the publisher.

Someone on Dolly's team could easily be orchestrating this fraud without anyone else's knowledge.
