Quick question, anyone here ever use the auction site gottahaverockandroll.com? I only ask because up until yesterday all of the items people were bidding on were scheduled to end today at 7pm. And all of a sudden yesterdat their were 7 more days added to the time making the bidding end next Friday. I wasn't sure if it were an error so I called them up on the phone and asked them what is going on. They told me that I was right about the added time and that they decided yesterday to add 7 days on to the auction due to them not originally realizing that it is a holiday week and people have to travel during this time. Makes no sense to me because the holiday is actually next week. Yesterday I decided to bid on an item that had not bids on it yet. I did this because it was supposed to end in 1 day and I figured my chances would be pretty good that nobody else would bid on it within the next 24 hours. Only to later find out that there is a whole other week added to it. What do you think about how they went about this? Has anyone here ever used this auction site? Is this type of practice wrong to do?

If you do a search on this site there are many posts regarding this auction house, indeed a mixed bag. They are out of NYC and I can imagine they are “playing games” with extending the auction, that isn’t normal.

I never used the site myself but know someone who has. I think they are a mixed bag (some fakes occasionally get sold but many look authentic in my opinion). I am shocked they would add a whole week to an auction like that, especially towards the end. Usually they shouldn’t change the auction end date unless it’s very extraordinary circumstances and even then they should add only a day at most.

That's what I thought as well.

That seems really dodgy.  Friday evening, July 1 could be argued to be the start of the holiday weekend.....but that's not the problem of participants in the bidding.   Heck, any Friday evening of the year is the start of a weekend.

I'd be curious to know if someone who had a bid in decided they want to retract because of this, would the auction house honor that?

That's what I was wondering?

I one some signed items during last months auctions and had a great experience with it.

Can anyone give me any other names of good online auction sites for bidding on signed music Memorabilia? I currently use rockhurstauctions.com, iconicauctions.com, natedsanders.com, gottahaverockandroll.com, and rrauction.com. I also buy directly from Roger Epperson at signedsealeddel.com.com
Thanks

They have a mixed bag.  I put a bid on something expecting to be quickly over bid and to my amazement I am still the only bidder. and had to double check a number of times during the week to check that there had not been a mistake. I suspect bidding is so sluggish that they have extended it by a week, - it cant all be because of July celebrations, not everyone is even from USA

If you want to retract your bid due to the extension, ask them. I think that they are likely to understand why and do it.

I have a question. Yesterday I was the high bidder on this GNR album at $350. Which seemed like a great deal. Even got confirmation email saying I was the highest bidder and a the time was the only bidder. Now today when I checked I was no longer listed as a bidder on the item at all. Someone else was the 1 and only minimum bidder at $750. I was never informed of any error or change. I think by mistake they listed it at the wrong price and then later changed it. Now there is no record of it except these screenshots I made. What do you think?

To avoid confusion, this is at Iconic, not Gotta Have It. What could have happened is that they forgot to set the $750 minimum bid for it, and the consignor saw it and let them know. Your $350 bid wouldn't qualify in that case and would probably go away automatically. It's up to $825 now.
