Recently acquired a book by this prolific French novelist and important figure in French New Wave cinema (she wrote Hiroshima Mon Amour e.g.) It's supposed to be a signed limited edition but...I will be generous: it's possible she initialled it, I guess.

Published not long before she passed, she was ill for a long time and known to have serious substance abuse issues so I'm wondering - secretarial?

Can anyone see a glimpse of consistency with my example and earlier, fuller signatures? My example first:

Possibly, I think so:

Is this not what you were looking for?

For what it's worth:

I don't know.  How could one really ever have certainty?

Who can say.

Million dollar question, Eric.

That's the book, Eddy - I could only find one other copy online for sale, in Germany, $150 or so. I paid only $10 for mine, can write it off.

Which is what I will be doing, sigh.

Like I said above, probably no way of knowing with certainty.

It reminds me of modern-day celebrity autographs on photos that we see all the time being passed by TPAs that look like nothing more than a squiggle or an initial... and the initial is even hard to catch characteristics in.
