I'm set to try and complete my SNL vinyl cover tonight. Jane Curtin is the last autograph I need to complete this item. I spoke to the venue. She's set to arrive at 530 and all they can do is take my item and ask her if she will sign out of sight. This complicates things. I can't use a paint pen out of fear it will be smudged. No one in the area sells a basic silver sharpie. They have new metallic ones which seem crappy for this specific item.
I'm wondering if I should wait outside and try to stop her myself? I've read so many horror stories about her unwilling to sign items. Would it be best to let the venue take it to her and ask? I'm in a crazy loop of over thinking. Traveled over 1000 miles to be here and it's only a few hours left until it's time.
I'm going to keep searching for a basic fast drying silver marker to cover the vinyl being signed in any area. My preferred pick would be an extra fine white paint pen but only if I can control the situation.
Anyone have any last minute advice?

I will take your advice with the post it note and may give them the same pen Chevy used to avoid potential issues. As much as I would want an extra fine white paint pen, I just can't trust it being handled as not to smear.
See my previous reply for venue info. It's a small venue. I'm still debating on either catching her on the way in, or handing my item off with a post it and a short note. I doubt she will stop to talk to me enough to shoot my shot lol. I don't want to seem like just another hound in it for profit
Talk about dedication -- 1000 miles to get Jane Curtain! Let us know how it goes and show us (hopefully) the autograph.
I was set to go alone but we turned it into a family vacation instead at the last minute, visited a few friends in the Poconos,NY and NJ along the way.
Completing this item is the goal but this week has been so amazing regardless that it won't break my spirit completely if she doesn't sign.
Not recognizing her name, I just read her Wiki page.
Among her “hobbies and interests” is listed “stabbing autograph-hunters in the eye”.
Good luck!
Hmm. Sending backstage via the venue just got more appealing for some reason!
Lol.. I think that's still considered an autograph by today's standards from some of these celebrities squabbles. If the ink spreads out, would my eyeball become an autographed collectible?
She’s actually well known for being a very kind and generous person, and she will even personalize items by putting their name or an inscription with her signature. lol
Not sure if want a personalization on this item. Unless she's willing to sign it as "ignorant sl*t" haha
There is conflicting information out there actually. I've read that she turned down a kid on her birthday saying " I don't do that".. but I own an authentic signed 3rd Rock from the Sun script and have seen many examples of similar out in the wild. Also previous signed books and photos. (Wading through the mix of unauthentic crap). I'm just not sure what to believe. She's has signed previously so the comment "I don't do that" was either she had a bad day or completely made up
Perhaps a short "Jason, you slut!"
She probably would, she rarely passes up the opportunity to sign SNL memorabilia and from what I have read, she does actually personalize it upon request but, since nobody else else’s personalized anything on there, I would just leave it as a signature.
