Hi All,

I've been browsing this site for awhile, and finally decided to sign up and participate.  I recently got more into collecting the last couple years.  When I do purchase items,  I've taken the "safe" route and bought from companies like Steiner & Upper Deck...but recently I came across a nice Joe Dimaggio piece that I really liked. I figured I would use a 3rd party to authenticate.  I compared to many other of his signatures I've seen online (there does seem to be big varieties in his style) and I think it looks real, but you guys seem to have a much better trained eye (i've seen a few other Joe D threads on this discussion forum).  This did come with a Score Board Inc COA (no hologram or anything) and Steiner LOA for the seatback piece.  Would love to hear your opinions on if you think it's legitimate.

Thanks, and I look forward to participating more in these forums!

Would love to hear an explanation :)

thanks Harry Lare for your reply - you make some very good points!  The J looks similar to me (again i'm newer to this hobby) to this one on ebay which has been authenticated by JSA (not that they are always right) http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOE-DiMAGGIO-SIGNED-AUTOGRAPHED-PHOTO-BASEB...

The oe do look closer to the J, than what i've normally seen..It does look like the top intersection of the D & M, the D is over the M, but the bottom intersection the M is over the D.  However, i think that's physically impossibly?! hah.  maybe it's due to fading?

I'm going to try to upload some closer images of the signature

would love to hear some more opinions too.

I believe this is a Marino Family forgery. Sorry.

Thanks for your reply -i appreciate your feedback.  What properties of it make you think that it is a Marino Family Forgery?

Looks like a Coach's Corner item.  Coach's Corner sells a lot of garbage like the below item.  The below item shows a Derek Jeter and Arod set of forgeries and then couple the forgeries with a Steiner piece of seat.  That's how they (Coach's Corner) attempt to make the autographs look legitimate.

its a forgery.  the "g"s are not correct.

And like Harry wrote, the Scoreboard COA is the most duplicated and forged COA in the hobby.  Half of the Scoreboard COAs out there are forged COAs.

Good Idea Dave hope you can get your money back asap!

Thanks Brad & everyone else for their input.  I will contact the seller to see if he'll take it back.

update to this topic from last year.  luckily the seller did give me my money back!
