PSA/DNA VS GA, which one does the pro collector prefer?

Hi,

Here is another beginner collectors questions for all you top collectors. Forgive my ignorance, but I am new to the game so bare with me,

As pro collectors, which do you find the most reliable in terms of autograph authentication? PSA/ DNA or a Global Authentics COA?

It seems like there are very mixed feelings and preferences about PSA/DNA authenticity, GA, and all the COAs that sellers offer with their autographs.

I realize that one can only be 100% sure that an autograph is real if someone actually signs it for you in person or you see it signed in person. I do not care for video proof because those could have been made by anyone, and you rarely see the actual picture of the item for sale being signed in the videos anyway. So the PSA/DNA and GA COA's seem to be the most reliable.

Which ones do you prefer? And why?

Or perhaps a combination of the two?

I go with PSA for the most part, but when it comes to high dollar music memorabilia I go with Roger Epperson (REAL).

PSA no question....GA and GAI which was replaced by GA has been notorious for authenticating fakes...All third party authenticators are not perfect...But I would never choose GA over PSA...GA has a horrible track record...

Thanks guys :)

I have come across this autograph on Autograph world. But it "only " come with a GA COA.

I also found this one on ebay that DOES have a PSA DNA COA

http://stores.ebay.com/autographhistory/_i.html?_nkw=kate+beckinsal...

What are your opinions on them?

Just a clarification...

"World of Autographs" which you link to is NOT the same as Autograph World, which you referenced.

:-)

Upps. Thanks Mr Zipper,

I meant WORLD OF AUTOGRAPHS....;)   Thanks

Jack - there exists an autographworld which is very different from worldofautographs.

autographworld is JD Bard & Bob Jones.  They are very different than autographstore.

u can read about them throughout the threads... but in future make sure you clearly identify the place consistently to prevent confusion down the line.

GAI (thumbs down as they sold out the collector at the end), GA (neutral), GA NASCAR (Thumbs up) PSA/DNA & JSA (Thumbs up on sports) and each of them have checkered results on modern entertainment although PSA might have the edge.

Thanks DB,

I I mentioned in my last post i meant World Of Autographs as the link will take you to.

Simply my mistake and mistyping.

also, check the cert id's to see if they have been posted in the respective databases.

we have heard of cases where there are forgeries taking place even with certs.  Steve Sipe of GA posted some limited information on theirs being forged.

there are a number of times, regardless of reasons, these wonderful TPAs don't post a picture of the item nor a date stamp even when it's there but presumbably it's fine.

note: also, the wonder of the threads is that you can see an older version at times if one is/has responded and the page has yet to refresh - which is why I missed Zip's post & response.

I checked both the autographs cert id's and they do in fact check out.

The ebay sellers name / handle is autograph history. Don't know whether or not he is a known seller.
