What autograph auction houses are your favorites, and why? Let's share experiences and help each other find auctions that treat customers the best.

I've always been a fan of the following:

R&R Enterprises

You can find an incredible assortment of autographs there, and i believe they would back any "problem" pieces that they might inadvertently sell.   I've consigned probably at least a $100,000 worth to R&R over the years, including a complete run of US Presidents in 2005, and I never had to worry about not getting paid, or them being shut down (ala Mastro Auctions), or any other shenanigans from consigning.   If Bob (Eaton) and I agree on a price via email, I don't have any reservations sending items his way for straight sale.  If he says he'll pay $1,000, then I get overnighted a check for $1,000, he doesn't play games like some people do such as get your item in hand, and then gripe about the "quality" and make a lower offer.  I don't know if Elizebeth is still there, but I'll give her kudos for handling a lot of my consignments and sales.  She was prompt to reply to emails and quick to help me out.  Nice lady.   I deal mainly in signed rookie cards these days, so I don't have a whole lot of business with them anymore, but I do still occasionally sell them things and participate in their auctions.

I do wish they would offer extended terms on items over $1,000 like Heritage Auctions does, as that would enable me to buy more from them, but I guess you can't do it all, LOL.

Keep up the good work R&R.

Mike Navarro

Yes, Elizebeth is still there. The whole RR crew is a pleasure. :-)

I haven't used too many auction houses to date but so far I've had the best luck with Autograph World.  They have a great selection and their service is top notch, e-mail inquiry responses are very fast.  Purchases are sent very timely and always packed well.  They take great care with the presentation pieces and multiple item transactions.  I've always been impressed with the quality and condition of their items.  I cannot honestly think of any need for improvement, just keep up the terrific work.  I'm very impressed with the listings from R & R but so far the items I've wanted have gone for prices beyond my budget.  It never stops me from checking their auctions and dreaming a bit.

These posts scare me from big dealers. I like smaller dealers, or go to theatre and get playbill signed back stage. I from China and I just start to going back stage to get them to sign , but not happy to buy from big places that are like Wal-mart of autograph LOL

another one of those "anonymous" and most likely a fake post to begin with.  Notice that there is no valid information or credentials to support the claim.

If R&R sold something not genuine they typically get to the bottom of the claim while usually reimbursing their client.

it would appear based on what I read it gets the attention it deserves; ZERO!

Yeah, I don't see that report as being particularly compelling evidence against R&R.  I'd be floored if that complaint was legitimate.

Wow ! That link is for a post about an autograph someone bought fifteen years ago !

I have good experiences with Hunt Auctions, which is almost always exclusively sports.

I like to go in person to estate auctions. I am careful bidding online because all you have is a scan to look at.  Even the best online auction can make an error, but at least seeing the actual item gives a me an opportunity to see everything. I can see the exact color of the ink, the paper grain and color, as well as the pressure points .

I've used RR, Heritage and Profiles in History and had great success with all three. Joe and Brian Chanes at "Profiles" are always very quick to answer any concerns that you might have, It's good to see that they have become so successful!...good people!

I've been using RR Auctions for 20 years and they seem to do a pretty good job of authentication. They also start their auctions at a lower price than most. Also, they took back (with full refund) a Mick Jagger signed guitar they had sold me 10 years earlier that turned out to be bad.  Hassle free return!
