On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

Taaj is absolutely CORRECT!

I purchased 2 Lots of NON-Michael Jackson related items from Julien's Auctions approximately one (1) year ago. Every single person registering with Julien's Auctions MUST AGREE to the terms and conditions and provide a credit card for payment PRIOR to completing your registration and being approved to be able to bid.

On a personal note, I should have read the terms and conditions more carefully because if I had (or if anyone had) in my opinion, myself nor anyone else would HAVE EVER (NEVER) AGREED TO JULIEN"S AUCTIONS said TERMS & CONDITIONS!

The two (2) lots I purchased were $1,000. Julien's Auctions charged my credit card the very same day immediately at the completion of the Auction. They added a 28% Buyer's Premium Fee.

ALL SHIPPING COSTS ARE AT THE WINNING BIDDER'S EXPENSE! You MUST ship by Julien's contracted shipping company (Rockin Boxes at the time), but NOW they have brought their shipping service IN-HOUSE (which I personally believe gives them a Monopoly for all shipping on Property purchased at any of their Auctions)!

The winning bidder MUST allow 2 to 4 weeks after proof of payment from Julien's for a shipping quote! And, allow 2 to 12 weeks after proof of payment from Julien's for delivery!

It took the shipping Company nearly 1 month to provide me with an estimate, even though I pleaded with them to get it to me earlier!

The shipping quote arrived with 2 options only! HONESTLY, I ALMOST FAINTED IN SHOCK AT THE EXTREMELY HIGH PRICE!!!

Option 1 was to ship it by CRATE for around $800.00 USD and Option 2 was to ship it by PALLET for around $750.00 USD!

They stated they would only deliver to curbside. I believe I would have needed a forklift to move from the curb. As you are aware, the majority of homeowners DO NOT have a forklift in their garage!!!

Additionally, the Shipping Quote stated that "All Property must be picked up by 30 days after Auction and that all Property not picked up after 30 days they would notify Julien's; all Property not picked up after 45 days, notice would be sent to the Property Owner; all Property not picked up after 60 days would be assessed a fee of $8.00 per day, per lot; and all Property not picked up after 90 days, you would lose possession of the Property."

And lastly, the shipping terms and conditions state: "BY PARTICIPATING IN ANY JULIEN'S AUCTION, YOU MUST AGREE AND ADHERE TO ALL OF THE ABOVE TERMS AND CONDITIONS."

Wow! I will not bid on any of their items going forward. I have in the past and won a couple items. I don't care for the direction the company has taken. This could be the start of the end of their business.

I think that a lot of Auction houses work this way. I have never purchased from Juliens, but I bought a couple things from another auction house. They sent invoice after I won and then I payed with a 20% premium- not as bad as Juliens. Then I had to wait for a shipping price and pay that separately. It seems they could figure that all out and send you one invoice but they dont do it that way. The things I purchased werent real large items, so I thought the shipping was quite high, but they made you insure to the price you paid. And then it took a long while to ship the items.

Lord have mercy!!! This is what i feared, Michael Jackson's authentic autographs being replaced by fakes! 10 yrs down the line, the real one will be called fakes,, As Darren attempted to do with the genuine ones that were posted here!

Actually that person was ME. I had NO idea about any of this. WHAT SO EVER.

I took the listing down right now. I have bought stuff from juliens many times and had 10000% faith in them...who wouldnt have?! Iam so PISSED about this whole mess!

People shouldnt ASSUME that someone they dont know would KNOWINGLY be as much of a bastard as michael bush clearly is....i guess you cant trust anyone anymore.

I am going to cancel my credit card payment ASAP and hope i wont be on the hook for this bullcrap. YES i do buy occasionally from auctions etc. and YES I do re sell for profit, AND NO i dont feel bad about it. I am a single father with 2 jobs who loves to collect autographs for my personal collection, I support my own collecting by re selling items iam POSITIVE about for extra money to feed my kids and to support my collecting habits.

NO one can say im a bad person for that. I had complete confidence in Juliens until now...such crap!

$1000 is ALOT of money for me...i risked it as an investment.

iam no lady gaga and cant afford to be robbed like this.

if anyone has any suggestions of how to make the people responsible for this accountable please let me know.

thanks

Thomas, if you are in the USA seek legal counsel, file a "Class action" law suit, we have had four people contact us, they are lost, dont know what to do, we need ONE person to file a case, the others will see and join you, once the media picks up on tHis it will blow Darren Julien out of the water!! Please see if you can get an attorney on contingency,, LETS DO THIS!!! How DARE Darren sell those as authentic, he is not a professional authenticator, please contact either Steve or myself Manager@TeamMichaelJackson.com

im in canada lucky me...damn i dont know what to do?!

Thomas,

We are all so glad you realize you were ripped off and are taking e effort to get your money back. We need to spread this word to all buyers and have it spread like fire. Bush needs to pay for this. Just know that everyone here is to support you. Sorry it happened to you. If you know of anyone else who were buyers, spread the word!

Thomas, welcome. Sorry it is under these circumstances. I would contact Darren@JuliensAuctions.com right away and see if he will do right by you. I totally understand your frustration. I have purchased items from Julien's the past two December auctions and was elated. I started to do my research for this December's auction and right away I noticed something was not right. The people here are very committed to helping people, and I hope that we can help you get your money back ASAP. Good luck!

I mentioned that earlier that that may be the case. I know, because I do the same thing. That's why its so horrendous whats happening. I look for bargains and then keep what I like and resell others. Nothing wrong with that. But in order not to get burned yourself, you have to really learn the signature of whom you are buying. That's why I studied so hard, because in the beginning I made mistakes also. But you expect that from E Bay...not top notch Auction houses.

The seller canceled both of his Michael Jackson auctions.

Thank you Ottogruffs!
