Steiner stickers and certs

I have been searching for Christmas gifts for a couple of relatives, and have come across some nice pieces that have Steiner certs/stickers. Some of these certs have a bar code, some do not. Is there a way of telling a counterfeit cert/sticker from a real one?

Here is the piece I am interested in; does the cert and sticker look genuine? I am usually paranoid about buying Steiner pieces that aren't directly from Steiner due to the possibility of counterfeited certs.

Share any evidence, experiences, and input you can offer!

I'd like to hear some thoughts on this topic as well...especially given that some ebay sellers have a seemingly endless supply of Steiner certed Peyton and Rodgers signatures. Thanks!

I would say yeas this is a good one...some do have bar code...others do not...it seems like all the ones I have ever got in person at live signing's DO NOT HAVE A BAR CODE ON THE CERT CARD....I think the bar coded items are ones from online orders...I got many certs from them...I will post pics to see the difference if there is one when I check it out tonight...as a matter of fact I am going there tonight after work...I will see if there is a difference...

At initial thought, I thought the sticker and cert were real but almost immediately I began to question their authenticity due to the price of the piece itself. It's a $500 piece on Steiner's website for about 310$ less.

Do you guys think a cert card itself can be faked? I've seen some Steiner products coming out of Asia, and they were pretty good-looking certs that are fake.

This dealer in particular sells a lot of UDA, PSA, MM, and Steiner products at a discount price; do you think that maybe he buys in bulk which causes the price to be so low?

Always look at the sticker on the item itself to see if it was ever tampered with...like creasing in the sticker is always a good sign it was peeled off a good item and put on something else...I see zero creasing on this sticker on the football...I would be confident purchasing this item...

I know I've read on here about some items having fake PSA or JSA certs...does Steiner have the same problem? I guess I'm just skeptical about sellers who sell 10-20 Peyton and Rodgers Steiner-certed helmets/month.

I was able to come across these 2 pieces I got in the same day last year from a live signing of Doc Gooden...as you can see the cert I got from the live signing has NO Bar code...but 1000 percent authentic...

I have purchased items directly from Steiner and the COA card has had a bar code.

As someone who has purchased hundreds of items from Steiner over the years I can tell you that their inventory items (items that are sold online or in their store) typically are bar coded for inventory reasons. They are also more descriptive, ie if the item has an inscription, it will be mentioned on the card.

Items authenticated on the spot at their signings usually do not have a bar code because they have already been sold hence there is no reason to keep an inventory. Typically these cards are more generic and will just have the persons name because they are pre made for the signing and anyone can get any item signed so they cannot be descriptive (like saying helmet, ball, etc).

As long as the item has a Steiner hologram it's the real deal. Many dealers on eBay and whatnot have wholesale contracts with Steiner, this is very common and why sometimes you will see items on eBay selling for less than Steiners website. As always, be mindful of who you are buying from, but you can't go wrong with Steiner.
