Removing personalizations from autographed item Question

I picked up a signed guitar that was given to a music executive as a gift and 4 of the members personalized it.  My question is does removing the personalization change the value of the autographed item or does it make no difference?  This was an expensive item for me and I do not want to alter the item if it will decrease its value, even though I have no plans on selling it.  I may be wrong but from what I have seen sell on Ebay, items that are personalized tend to sell for less and typically I do not buy items that are personalized to someone.  I liked this guitar enough to make an exception here.  Any of your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

The main reason I have never attempted to remove a personalization is fear of damaging the item.

Personalizations definitely lower resale value. (Hence why some celebs/athletes ALWAYS personalize autos so they don't go on eBay immediately.)

Pending how valuable the item is, I would probably not risk it. Also in this case, the fact that it was a gift to a music executive is pretty cool.

The guitar was given to Michael Klenfner as a gift.  He passed away in 2009.

Wow that would be a lot of personalizations to remove!
