Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Too much doubt on these now for me
I only know of Epperson and his reputation from this site and everyone refers to him as the nest for MJ so to have so many be against it that are normally for him shows me that maybe something is up
I don't have a dog in the fight but I do think that anyone reading this thread will have to agree that the real/Epperson coas have been a little tarnished by these. Maybe? Lol I dunno!
It will for sure make people more skeptical when seeing a Epperson loa that's for sure, cause it's made me skeptical. Which is a good thing I guess. You should always question

Thanks everyone for your input and discussion though, very constructive IMO

I still trust Roger's opinion...I've used his quick opinion service numerous times.  I think the only thing in question is the possibiity that these new influx and new wave of drawings, signature styles are a bit unusual.  So it may be something new for everyone to take note of and possibly learn from.

You trust his opinion...just not on these. Isn't a full loa better than a quick opinion?
there's the thing so your "only question" - it will be really frustrating for potential buyers, sellers, and roger to have these items trashed here and then a few months down the line have people come out and say "we were wrong. We have since found out these are real"

Hopefully roger can come on here and maybe explain a little more about his findings and why he's confident in the style.
As it stand though Im not interested in these
Maybe next time say you "trust Rogers opinion FOR THE MOST PART" lol

Well...thats only for the type of buyer who buys for the COA exclusively and is completely uneducated in the signature that they are buying.  I (me personally) use TPA's to ONLY confirm an opinion i already have on the item.  NOTHING can replace due diligence and studies that you would have to do on your own if you have an interest in buying autographs.  As with any autographs, It's a judgement call and who's opinions do you trust more....I think several MJ fans have made similiar visual observations when it comes to these particular pieces. I (me personally) am the type of collector that will only buy if I have zero doubts in my mind and also TPA's opinions  match the ones that I have come up with.  So any autographs who's authenticity is in limbo....i steer clear from.  If these autographs prove valuable down the line..atleast due diligence was done, and all room for doubt can be removed.  In regards to your "future" theory,  The same thing can also be said about the reverse....when potential buyers, sellers, and TPA's have found something to be good, but later on down the line has been discovered to be fraudulent.  There's no replacement for doing your own homework.

I think the same way on all points here. Nice response.

As with anything Sam it comes down to trusting your own judgement. As has been said TPA's make mistakes and if you have one bit of doubt then save your money and look elsewhere.

It appears the forgers are flooding the market for christmas to make a killing from people and fans desperate for something supposedly drawn by MJ. There is so much doubt and so much stuff that is off that I would avoid a lot or most of the stuff currently available.

Rog's reputation hasn't been tarnished in the least. Roger is my rock when it comes to Rock, but Michael Jackson is the Vietnam of autographs. They're a quagmire. I wouldn't buy anything that isn't clearly, obviously genuine. But authenticators have to make much more difficult, less obvious calls.

The only thing i know for sure, is that the usual crew at autograph planet are probably having a field day.

Who cares?

I haven't been hiding I just haven't looked at this site in some time.  (I don't flag many blogs to let me know when people respond)  I have absolutely no problem with drawings that I have cert'ed.  None whatsoever.  I don't even think that the signature is off.  Yes, I know the person that had these originally and I will not or do not have to say who it was when I'm told it's confidential.  I'm a man of my word, if I say I won't tell I won't tell.  There are many who know me that will back up that statement.  There surely are some forgeries out there with this style of drawing and signature just like there has been forgeries of his more abstract images.  Like I have always said before if you feel uncomfortable about buying ANYTHING whether its an autograph, a used car, a pet goat or an autograph from ME, don't buy it!

BTW, if you ever are looking for a pet goat, see Roger. He trains them well.

Autographs and Goats--talk about a renaissance man.
