They are out of NY. They auctioned off Dick Clark's possessions a while back. Looked at some of their items in their current. Some of the signatures they're offering are questionable.

Hi everyone, first time poster here, and certainly very new to this whole scene.  I have lots of autographs I've collected myself over the years but I've just started investigating the possibility of buying some.

I found this site by searching for info on Vintage 329 in New Orleans.  Seems like the people on this forum have good advice and as a result I'll resist purchasing there.

With regards to this Guernsey House auction - does anyone have any more info/opinion on this auction house?  Some of the items I'm interested in include COA's from Antiquities international, Startifacts, or Rock Star Gallery.  Does anyone have an opinion on whether these COA's lend credence to these sales?

I'm especially wary because the auction house Terms and Conditions state the following (perhaps this is standard procedure?):

"THE ITEMS IN THE DELAWARE COLLECTION WERE ASSEMBLED BY A SINGLE COLLECTOR OVER MANY YEARS. MOST OF THE LOTS COME WITH A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM THE SOURCES THE COLLECTOR ACQUIRED THE ITEMS FROM. HOWEVER, INASMCH AS GUERNSEY'S HAS NO ABILITY TO RE-TRACE THE PROVENANCE OF THESE ITEMS, WE CANNOT VERIFY THEIR AUTHENITICY."

Any thoughts, stories or opinions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Guernseys is reputable and has dome many estate sales for living and dead celebs sucvh as Michael Jackson when he was alive. Estate auctions are great cause the lots are verifiable as owned by the celeb. For instance Ringo and his wife recently had an estate sale and 20 years down the road if you need to sell, you can point the buyer to the Ringo Auction for verification.

BUT< but, but this Guernsey auction appears to be a Collector sale and that is a different animal. As this website shows, collectors are quite fallible about true ownership. There have been tons of fakes out there over many decades. For example, many people think they own a signed Beatles guitar. If fact most don't but rather have fakes. So beware.

Since Guernsey's cannot verify authenticity perhaps the collector will give you a money back guarantee. If you know his name see if you can contact him/her.  And even if they agree, find out their wealth to make sure they can pay you back even if they have already spent your money,

oh boy. Guernseys may not longer be as reputable as I thought because of  a Buddy Holly guitar authenticated by Chris Morales. I mean if they don't know by know not to accept his LOA stuff, then they are incompetent.

Here is the link the their Beatles signed guitar.  They have TONS of fakes in this auction -- fake Dylan, Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, Stones, FAKE GUITARS most with "Antiquities International" COAs (the Las Vegas outfit that has been discussed on here before with a horrible reputation).

I'm surprised a major auction house in New York City would stoop this low.

I wrote them about many of their items -- so far no response.

I know of Guernsey's, and I believe they generally have a reputation of being reputable. However, I know of at least two secretarial JFKs that they sold as authentic. One was for close to $5000. However, this was about ten years ago, involving a JFK style that was tripping up many people. I think they probably know better by now.
