I purchased this Paul McCartney from a member of this site.  I listed this item on ebay and it was removed stating it was not considered authentic. Before I submit this to PSA/DNA, JSA, or Roger Epperson, I would like some of your opinions. I've never had a problem like this before. Thanks.

Interesting reply Nate and rogers wright. So ebay has an in-house Beatles expert. Does that mean that we all can expect these signatures listed on their site to be authentic? Humm. Perhaps ebay should go into the Beatles authentication field.

Honestly, I just want an authentic Paul McCartney autograph. If Roger says it's good, I will accept that. Get his LOA and be satisfied. To heck with ebay if they don't like it. No matter how this works out, life will go forward.

Guess I will be much, much more careful with the next Paul autograph I run into. Part of the hobby.

Hi Joe.  Not sure 'in-house' is correct, I believe they utilize the services of someone rather than having someone in-house.  But I confess to being more than a little miffed when a similar thing happened to me.  Though now the waters have calmed I understand and appreciate that something is better than nothing when trying to rid eBay of the fakes, and, as we know, mistakes are made.

Appreciate your responses Nate. I buy and sell autographs to build a collection. Not to make money. I invest more of my own money into this than I sell to continually build a better collection. That's what I enjoy to do. I'm not corporate, just a guy who loves being a part of this fascinating and challenging hobby. I don't get angry when things don't go my way. In the end, we all want it to be about authenticity.

I've found similar examples to this one. I think it's fine now.
The fellow who just posted the white lp potraits is similar to this mc's. It does have a chance after the shock of how ugly it is. See what epperson rules.

Steve, I have seen similar ones myself. I noticed some of his signed books look like this example. Just waiting to hear from Roger. Things will work out. I'm sure of that. Personally, I hope it does authenticate. Maybe it's not the perfect example but real is real. With today's celebrity scribbles, this one looks great. Least we know it's Paul McCartney.

To me and my eyes. The P in Paul isn't at the same angle as the rest of the "aul" also where the A and the U meet it looks like there was either a lift up from the stroke it doesn't flow all in one swoop if you know what I mean?

Now granted I could be wrong and it is just my opinion. Any number of conditions could make it look off. I would wait for Roger for sure.
Your right Adam.

Here's one that appears similar just listed on ebay for $7499. At least does to me. Has a PSA/DNA LOA. The "P" is different though.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I received Roger Epperson's opinion on this Paul McCartney signature today. Here is his response via email:

"It’s a bit odd especially the “a” in McCartney but I think it’s ok.  Here are some known in person examples that match up with it pretty well"

He included some examples to confirm his analysis.

I am relieved for both myself and for the seller who has been very nice before and during this circumstance.

I am thrilled to have a Paul McCartney signature and plan to submit it to Roger for a full authentication. I do not know if ebay will accept his LOA but that doesn't matter. I may keep it or maybe list it here, who knows.

I matted this signature with a photo and want to share that with you. I appreciate everyone's input in this discussion and very pleased this discussion did not evolve into personal attacks of any sort. I have even more respect for this member who sold it and he is a member with integrity.

+1

Well handled.

Eric

I'm happy for you and the seller Joe. It is getting so hard to know with Paul these days, especially when he just signs 'Paul', I don't think I would ever buy one of those signatures even if I was sure it was genuine.
