Elvis Presley 1955 autograph?

Hello, I found this picture taken at an Elvis concert in 1955 on eBay, and the person claims that the picture was signed by Elvis. What do you guys think? Here is the listing: https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/222049855902

May I ask gently - did you look at any exemplars before you posted this? Prices obtained by genuine examples at auction and sale?

I am trying to ascertain why you thought this might be genuine.

This is one where I pretty much knew it wasn't genuine. I just wanted to see what everyone thought of it. The picture is what, again, I am more interested in. However, I am not interested in that picture enough to pay that ridiculous amount.

Hello again,

This is the same as that "Sinatra"...people often write dates and names on the back of photographs. That is all this is.

In my experience the best place to do what it appears you are trying to do is with playbills sold in stacks. Audience members used to staple the ticket to the cover, and write the names and dates in fountain pen. I have, several times, noticed they are signatures, not written names. Buying a vintage 1944 Danny Kaye playbill with ticket and candid inside for $5 is rather fun, especially when the big time dealer is telling you "look, now you understand that is NOT Danny Kaye's autograph, right?" "Oh Yes ,Sir!" And then of course there are the interior signatures which are often overlooked.

The other area for this is signed books in smaller shop and thrift etc. Anywhere really.

Thank you for those tips! That is actually what I normally do when I go to antique stores and what not. I buy old playbills/ music sheets in bulk and go through them. I even bought an autographed Wayne King picture for $8.

I can't even say that is a forgery because it looks absolutely nothing like Elvis' signature. It's like a 12 year old wrote Elvis' name. Terrible. And they want $1000 for it?!?
