I bought a set of Beatles autographs 4 years ago from Antiquities in Las Vegas. They are authenticated by Drew Max of AAU. After a bit of research on Max, and several rejections from auction houses and prospective buyers, naturally, I'm suspicious of the authenticity of these signatures. Antiquities gave me a money-back guarantee. I'm in Las Vegas RIGHT NOW (I live in San Francisco) and I'm trying to get a refund from Antiquities. Yesterday they gave me the cold shoulder. I'm going back in today hoping to talk to the owner. What am I to do? What do you guys think of the signatures?

Hopefully you're able to get a refund. What a mistake it was to have Drew Max on Pawn Stars. I've never seen an authentic Beatles signature or set with his COA. I've only seen forgeries, preprints and secretarials.

And I have never seen an authentic Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, etc. with a COA from Drew Max (AAU and Marc Goldman).

Goldman once stated in a interview (paraphrasing) "That he is only aware of two times when Drew Max was wrong."

I didn't know whether to laugh or throw-up.

That is really sickening.

I agree with the opinions on these. In my opinion they aren't genuine either.

It is usually very hard and costly to fight for a refund from Antiquities. I would consider going to the LV Police and filing a report. Let them investigate if they will. Do not threaten to go to the police though. That could be considered a crime. Just file one if you feel it's justified.

According to our Beatles Signed Album Census, only 8-10 band-signed Hard Day's Night albums are known. All that we know of are Parlophone releases. Yours appears to be a Capitol release. Is that right?

BTW, signed Hard Day's Night albums rarely sell for less than $45,000 and are usually signed on the back. What did you pay for yours? I did see that Hakes Americana sold one last November for $27,000, but that was an odd place to sell a signed Beatles album.

Thank you for the advice, Steve. And I only paid $5,000. Of course it's a forgery. I only wish I had known better at the time. I will, indeed, file a report with LVPD.
Im glad you said only!
I wonder how they continue to get away with selling forged autographs.

Maybe you should ask Caesar's Palace.

Kevin, I am curious what convinced you to purchase those autographs?

Was it impulse?

Did you think you were getting a great deal?

I am curious.

Thank you.

Yes, it was impulse. At the time of my purchase, Pawn Stars was popular. Being that Drew Max was their authenticator on the show, I thought he was a reputable authenticator. Drew Max's reputation as "the guy on Pawn Stars" was their selling point, and they suckered me into thinking I got a deal.
Sad stuff
