Steiner Sports COA Derek Jeter Forgery Autographed Jersey Coach's Corner Auctions Lee Trythall Scott Malack

I am totally perplexed as to why Steiner Sports does nothing about sellers who use their COA to sell forgeries.

In past years I have reached out to Steiner Sports and they ignore me.

Check out the below Derek Jeter forgery on the Coach's Corner Auction site.

It's an obvious Derek Jeter forgery on a jersey, and Coach's Corner Auctions headed by Lee Trythall and Scott Malack is listing the below Jeter forgery using a Steiner Sports COA.

When does this end!!!

Yikes! Awful forgery

The biggest thing that bugs me with Steiner is their high prices. The second is garbage like this. You would think they would be dillegent in getting rid of fraudulent stickers to justify their high prices!

I have written on my blog a few times about apparently bad items accompanied by Steiner holograms and certificates.

July 21, 2013 - Are authenticity holograms secure enough?

February 19, 2014 - Are Steiner holograms compromised?

Of course Steiner is reputable and only sells authentic, direct signed material. However, it appears that either someone has counterfeited their holograms or devised a way to remove real Steiner holograms from authentic items and swap them onto bad items.

Since I wrote my first article about this in 2013, the problem has only grown worse in my opinion. On eBay I routinely see obviously bad material with Steiner holograms. I really wish Steiner would aggressively act to protect their brand. If someone as reputable and solid as Steiner becomes fully compromised, it would be very bad for the hobby.

I've even emailed Brandon about this.. I really hope they have something in the works to protect themselves. In the past they have always taken the stance of "buy from us directly or we can't help you."
I have never accepted the "buy from us" argument from Steiner.

The whole point of a hologram is to establish a chain of authenticity no matter who or where it is obtained from. Why bother using a hologram at all if the only assurance of authenticity is to buy it direct from Steiner? And what message does this send to the various Steiner resellers who buy in volume? This message throws their distributors right under the bus.
I agree, it hurts the value of their brand in the long run. At least they include MLB holograms on some items which are numbered and researchable.

In other words, their authenticity guarantee isn't really that. Isn't one of their selling points supposed to be that their super-high-priced items are investments? "Buy only from us" kind of kills that argument.

Yep. Nothing is much of an "investment" if you can't sell it. Double whammy when the company that issued the "investment" recommends that people buy from no one except from them.

I get that they want sales, but they might want to rethink how they're doing things.  Indirectly saying that resold Steiner items are none of their concern makes me immediately want to skip them.  I don't care what they're selling.

Agree with Ian, they do so little to stop forgeries it means it will happen more and more
