Sean,

You came to this site to get opinions on the authenticity of your Hendrix, and members gave you opinions. Just because you didn't like the opinions you got doesn't mean you can come back and harass us. Stop abusing this site.

mmm.. interesting...How have I harassed members and abused this site? Please explain?  I posted some examples up of hendrix autographs as comparisons for my discussion. A member also posted an example for comparison.

Sean, I don't mean to sound rude but I think what Steve meant was that you got your answers from the members already, and there's no need to keep pushing for proof. As I stated before, if you believe your Hendrix is real and you trust your dealer, then why care so much to prove it to anyone else? Its your prerogative. I understand you don't like others calling something you treasure fake, but I think Steve is hinting that discussion has worn itself out. There isn't anything else to say about it. Most people here say their professional opinion is that its fake. You disagree. Both parties have stated why and shown proof/examples. You won't change their minds, and they won't change your's. So why keep going, I think is what he meant. You seem like a nice enough guy. And as I mentioned in my last comment, whether its real or fake, take comfort in knowing we've all been there before. You are not alone. You believe its real. You believe in your dealer. That should be all she wrote. Why fight for the approval of anyone else? You asked, and they replied. Best of luck go again, and remember, collecting is a learning game, and nothing to be ashamed of or angry about.

As a "professional" and a hardcore collector, who has been studying autographs for over 30 years -- let me point out one big flaw in the Hendrix signature (which I believe also, to be a forgery). The "H" in Hendrix. He NEVER had the line so dark, where he's drawing the line underneath, to connect it all. That's somebody else that's doing the Hendrix style, and they keep the pen down, pressed at the same pressure point as the rest of the signature. When signing names, the pen comes up at different points. Just sign your own name on a piece of paper 10 times. You'll notice, yes...they might look a little different, but they are all VERY CLOSE. And you'll notice little naunces. You'll notice "Oh...when I make the 't' the pen always comes off the paper, and nobody would even know that's a 't' if they didn't know my name." Now, look at the H in Hendrix. I don't buy that line that connects them.

Regarding old ink and paper...that wasn't just used in modern times. Many forgeries of Lincoln exist, that were done in 1910, but that used old ink and paper, too. That technique has been used for ages.

And I'd like to finish by adding this...if you think THIS discussion is nasty -- I'm telling you one thing. When you get back the info that it's fake from the person you are having look at it -- and ANY OF US see it go up for sale ANYWHERE...we will attack with a vengence. When you get burned, it sucks. It's happened to all of us. But trying to sell it at that point, is downright disgusting.

Hi josh, thanks for your opinion. I have tried to close discussion but moderator wants to leave discussion open so therefore other people have commented so I posted some great comparisons to add to the discussion. Since you are professional, it would be interesting to hear your opinion on the comparisons I have posted?

I mentioned it was nasty what the member here said, 'that he is going to sell my jimi hendrix image on ebay in a file of forgeries.' This is just an opinion forum, not proper authentication yet somehow he is an expert on jimi's autographs to put my autograph in a book of forgeries and sell it for money. At the end of the day no one knows for sure. It could be a forgery or it could be genuine and is here for discussion & study purposes & to have some fun. Maybe it could open up some new insight? Also opinions are one thing but saying 'When you get back the info that it's fake' is to say you are 100% sure when really you don't know.

Hi Sean, actually thats not what that member stated. He said that he put your example in his exemplar file of Hendrix forgeries (or at least thats what he meant). Their certainly is no selling of any such book, so you dont have to worry their. He was just saving it to see if it or similar items turn up in the future, and that maybe the future, or supplier could be caught. Most professional authenticators do this. They build exemplar libraries of both fake and real autographs.

And this site is actually quit a bit more than you think. Roger Epperson has already given his opinion, and if he states no good, then thats a proper authentication. You could always send it to him, but since he stated it was fake from just a scan, their would be no need too. Roger is JSAs music guy, he used to be PSAs chief music guy, he is RR Auctions music guy, and is respected by virtually every legit dealer/authenticator/collector out their. For certian autographs, Roger is considered the best in the world, such as The STones, Elvis, Beatles, and yes.......Jimi Hendrix. And thats not an easy title to get. He has testified in many many court cases that i know of, and won many lawsuits against criminals. He has also helped a ton of people get refunds from forgers, including some very high monetary items. So his opinion is honestly the best you could hope to get, and he gave it to you for free which is all the better.

Their are others who commented as well that are far more educated and experienced on Hendrix and otehrs than any FDE out their. As i stated once before, their are sites out their that have members that dont have much knowledge, and that argue over whether their Clint eastwood TTM is real or not. But this isnt one of them. I have looked around all over the net, and this site, by leaps and bounds has the most knowledgeable collectors.........professionals if you will. I dont consider myself one, just an enthusiast who tries to give informed opininons, but they are here. If half the board said yes and the other no, then i would be with you and be unsure. But looking at who has commented, the characteristics of the signature, the source, and comparisons of authentic examples, and the overwhelming opinion of bad, then you really probably should be looking for a refund. But each to his own and i wont comment on it any further.

I wish you luck with it either way, but after all the controversy over it here, please dont post it on ebay if you start to have doubts on the piece. Return it to the dealer and get a refund and an authentic item. Definetly dont want to spread a lemon around any more than you have too.

Very good points Carl. I don't think Roger actually commented on Sean's auto? He commented on the Christies. He also said the ones Sean was comparing to we're fake, so I guess it's given. I just wonder if he got Rogers opinion and didn't like, or if he just doesn't want his opinion? So then I wonder where he is going with this. I'm sure when he gets his answer from his authenticator it will be good. I guess that's where this is going?

Sean posted this collage (which when it's saved, is titled "funfunfun")  Mmmmm....  interesting title.  The upper right is Sean's picture which is no longer on tan/gold paper, it's lightened to white.

Roger replied right below it:

 "Sean, these are all fake."

Sean, you removed the photo AGAIN and then closed the thread--after Steve said he was leaving it open.  Why?  We would all love to find out who authenticates your piece, and how it turned out.  You stated you were having it authenticated.  This was an interesting discussion, as are ALL the Hendrix signatures this site discusses---& they almost always end up the same way too!  Amazing!!

Just out of curiosity sake.  Why, would you make a collage of photos, with yours included asking us to prove yours fake, and label the entire collage "funfunfun"

-wascher

I'm guessing he already knew it was a forgery long before this thread started.

No he didn't, but I think he knows now. He asked about it on another site and it didn't go well for him.
