Yep!
Yes, definitely a mega priced Aspinall set.
The most expensive Neil Aspinall set ever.
I imagine the seller has no clue he has an Aspinal set. Don't have the heart to tell him. Hope no one buys it or makes an offer.
I wrote him a very nice letter explaning the situation and why I was telling him - to avoid a costly return etc as it will fail TPG or Frank etc.
And then I reported it.
Auction ended.
How does one expect to sell a $50,000 item without any third party authentication? Especially an unknown seller... it's not like a known dealer or auction house. I find it hard to believe it's ignorance of the market. The seller has many autographed items for sale.
Willful ignorance?
Agreed, a mix of arrogance and willful ignorance! Nobody with any sense will pay $50k without full authentication but so many sellers are just dreamers
There are a number of collectors with no sense. And experts. How else could a "Monet" painted with emulsion and KY Jelly on modern cotton over modern stretchers sell at Sotheby's, Christies and Phillips? About 200 did in the 1980's/90's. It's insane.
Seller probabaly picked this up cheap or has it on consignment. He has mostly baseball cards on his site -- no other rock and roll memorabilia. Has a "Best Offer" option on it.
