Wow-such a deal!  Especially considering I just checked eBay and there are 13 Buy-it-now auctions for less than that.

The Waterstones ones are signed to the title page not a blank page, mine just came in.

Yes here’s mine from Waterstones

With all the books that are being signed in-store and now the Waterstones copies that are signed on the title page as well, it will be tricky getting an authentic copy on the secondary market. This makes it much easier to dupe people.

I've seen many try that with the Thom Yorke books.. Obvious fakes that would take 2 minutes of research, but they still sold. Its always bound to happen

The vast majority of authentic copies will be signed on a tipped in page, you can’t fake that.

If both versions exist, people can forge a regular book. Also, most people out there who cant authenticate, wouldn't be smart enough to know if the book was supposed to have a tip-in page or not.. There are a lot of people that have no clue what that even means still.. its going to happen.

BTW, fake... sold for $100

Great example. I'm no expert on their graphs, at first glance it looks good to me.

Glad I bought my copy sealed (and I know even that can be faked).

Did the authentic Thom York books have a tip in page? I am looking at the ones available for sale online and they all seem to be signed on a similar page and manner as the example above. What is the giveaway that it is fake? I’m still learning and don’t want to get duped with a fake so any advice is greatly appreciated.

From what I remember, rough trade only received 200 copies of the signed Thom books but I believe another store carried some as well. Was it waterstones? They were sealed in plastic. With a run that low, I'm not sure if they would be tipped in.. I bought mine the old fashioned way by authenticating the signatures and have no idea what a regular book contains. Its a good question though

To answer more specifically about the "giveaway" its knowing what the signatures look like of both people. When you research enough, something like this you know pretty much instantly that its fake. If this wasn't easy for you to spot, you probably just need to research their signatures a bit more.

I Got it backwards.. waterstones had 200.. but I bought one of mine direct from a rough trade employee selling on ebay.. even came with a rough trade receipt for how much I paid.. seems sketchy but I didn't question it. I just cared it was real. Anyways, im not sure how many copies rough trade received
