My first impression on this was absolutely not genuine. However, the lady offering it said that it was sent to her auntie in the early 1970's by the Bruce Lee fan club, after she'd written him a letter. She then inherited it from her auntie and has had it in her possession since.
She was so adamant about the story that I decided to compare it with known exemplars. It's clearly not a typical Bruce Lee autograph but does actually have some very similar traits to several authentic examples.
What do people think? Does anyone know if Bruce had a secretary sign autographs for him? I couldn't find evidence of this ever happening.
This is a very odd presentation. It seems the peace, love, brotherhood portion is drawn with a different pen than the rest of the writing, or possibly stamped. The spacing, width, and alignment in his first/last name and also the Dragon symbol appear off. I don’t think this is authentic and can’t imagine any of the major TPA passing this photo as genuine.
Thanks for your input guys. I was expecting a negative response as that was my initial feeling. You're probably correct but I'll show you a comparison that made me think it had a shot. There are clearly differences but also similarities and his signature did vary a fair amount. The genuine example was also signed in a much thicker pen. Ironically, the genuine autograph looks the more slowly/hesitantly penned:
