Hi everyone! I'm new on here and looking for your opinions on a piece that I just bought. I have just bought a cast signed Ghostbusters poster from Antiquities of California via their website. I have compared some of the signatures and they look alright from what I've seen, but then again I don't know anything about authenticating a signature.

This was a pretty expensive piece but I'm a huge fan and I've been looking for a real one for a long time. After doing some research on this website I have gotten a little weary about their authentications and was just wondering if you guys could help me out. I do want to stress however that so far their staff has been very kind and haven't given me a reason distrust them, but I feel that I should cover all of my bases. They claim that all of these signatures were done at the same time during a scheduled sitting.

I haven't received the poster yet so I will give you the pictures that I have, but I can post better ones in a few weeks when it comes in if needed.

Thanks for your opinions, this is a great web site!

But he'll still take cash for autographs from what I understand.  I've heard that one more than once.

Bill will take the money, he does it at golf events as well as the hotel but it isn't 100% all the time. He is very tough and has been for a while now..

In a way I don't blame these people for not signing or signing for money. Most will say ill do 1 item per but then people get greedy and are all over the actors/actresses/players etc then chasing their cars and waiting outside of their house. I know they make a ton of money but at the same time when does the privacy come into play? Look at the new video of Kanye West on TMZ, there was paps outside his house at 4:30 in the morning.. That's just nuts..

Brad, How did you make out with the refund?

It took a few days as they had their manager that handles these situations was out of the office. I did however get my refund which feels great!

These forgery operations are so big they have "managers". WOW.

Alright now that I have gotten my refund I have ordered a Ghostbusters poster to be signed at Celebrity Authentics by Sigourney Weaver this month at a sit down signing. I will get a COA as well as a picture of her signing my poster. I am now on a mission to get as many of the cast as I can to sign this poster over the years and get this done myself either in person or at sit down signings, and get pictures and documentation for every signature. It's a lofty goal but I'm sure it will be fun and challenging.

Thank you all for your help, and I'm sure I will need it again. I plan to stay apart of this community, and hopefully can offer my own help some day.

Thanks again!

Congratulations.

They were smart to just issue the refund and let this go away.

There's enough potential heat coming because of the Jesse Jackson, Jr. purchases.

Congratulations, and good luck.

Not to add salt to the wounds but you need to be careful of what is coming from Celebrity Authentics as well. They are also know as , Gridiron Authentics and Hardwood Authentics, which sell a TON of forgeries. If you do some research on this site as well as a google search you will see the drama with this company. Although they make it seem as they have done signings with all of these players and celebrities because of the photos on their coa's but the truth is that a majority of those photo's were taken many many years ago. Let's take Tom Brady for example: He did a free signing his rookie year in Mass and that is where that photo came from however they manage to sell 20-30 Tom Brady Footballs a month for the past 10 years even though Tom Brady has an exclusive contract.

If you do decide to go this route and have Sigourney Weaver sign your poster I'd demand that you get a photo of her signing with pen on the EXACT item not just some generic photo..

Brad, Please do yourself a favor and do extensive research on the companies that you decide to do business with. Although they may look good because of the fancy websites and the fancy coa cards they use but usually simple Google searches or browsing this site will give you the comfort you need. Just because these scammers make themselves look good with all these fancy websites, coa's etc at the end of the day you can take a piece of sh*t and dress it up with lettuce, cheese, and bread but when it's said and done it's still a piece of sh*t.

Good luck and please continue to ask questions before buying something if you're not 100% sure on something..

I'm honestly feeling pretty good about this one. They are getting it done at the New York Comic Con and I have already talked to them. They are sending me a photo of her signing my exact poster. At some point I have to trust somebody and I can't think of a better way to authenticate my poster than with the actual picture and scheduled sit down signing with her.

Just so you know I made sure it will be my EXACT item that I will get a picture of her signing. I have tried to be as careful as possible with this one.

Anybody else think this was a bad idea?

I think you're fine. While the Gridiron problem does exist, there's no evidence of problems with CA... yet. You can be sure we'll keep an eye on it though.
