Hi, this might seem like a really weird, but I’m a avid big The Doors fan and collector, and I was wondering out of curiosity- should I get some my The Doors era adverts authenticated if I was to sell them? because look at this picture, it’s a advert for one of their first concerts in 1966 and their second last concert in 1970 (I am only 26 by the way so these are way older than I lol) :) I might have a little issue trying prove a background like who had them before me and where they exactly come from as I usually bought advert lots in lot off eBay :) so should I get some of these authenticated ? do they really need to be authenicated ? I know having legitimate authenticity might help prove its real but What should I say or Who should I talk to? as I’ve got about over 50 from The Doors era itself :) sorry :(

see, here are some other The Doors era adverts I have :)

anyone can add their view, I’m just asking out of curiosity :) sorry

I would say that unless you had something like an original concert poster it would not be necessary to authenticate them. I have seen vintage posters get graded for some big dollars.

if there just newspaper adds no u cant get them all the timei there out there and people don't care about newspaper adds

if its original posters and there worth a lot of money just make sure u know what ur buying and u will be fine ,if u go to sell them any reputable auction house will authenticate them before the sale

agree unless there will be a market with big bucks there is no need to get them authenticated. Interesting hobby you have by the way.

I like to know as much as I can about whatever I collect.

thank you everyone, but I just don't really understand is that- I've got a advert and I've seen one like that sell for about 125 us dollar, and thought that is crazy as it's around $200 Australia dollar, and I hardly see many The Doors era adverts for sale (I'm talking about ones for advertising a The Doors concert coming) :) but anyway thank you everyone :)

In the world of collectibles one never knows what will catch someone's eye. Because most here specialize in autographs we may not know what is happening in related categories. Was the one that sold graded and authenticated?

but u have to relize  the actual poster for the shows could be worth thousand

I know people specialize in adds and yes the ask stupind prices 99 precent of the time they never sell

I’m not sure who graded it, that’s why and where I thought of the question sorry :) because look at this, it sold for 125 USD, and I’ve got 3 different ads from the LAFP for The Doors at Cheetah :) but anyway thank you and sorry to ask stupid question :/

Your questions are not stupid. I knew a guy who owned a stack of old Life Magazines. He used to cut out various ads from the magazines and sell them on eBay. In fact, I once purchased a vintage "It's A Wonderful Life" full page ad and matted it with a James Stewart and Donna Reed autograph. It looked really cool.

And I know some people buy them and mat them to decorate their homes and/or business. Although, most often, these ads sell for under $20. Occasionally higher. Your Doors ad is nice and I believe it would look great matted and does have value.

Original, vintage concert and movie posters can be worth big money and there are grading services for that although I know nothing about that area. As with any collectible, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it at any given moment.

BTW, your Doors ad looks better than that newspaper ad which sold for $105 plus postage. IMO. The fancy certificate is worthless.
