Art card is ugly as sin too.

The prints from Banquet were actually nice.

For non-collectors an initialed cd from EJ is hard to beat for under $20 shipped.  Not much to complain about for fans of the man and his music.

Collectors on the other hand…

I have a friend that used to work at JSA that said these

"INITIALS" only so called autographs are hard to authenticate and

discern from being a batch of "secretarials".

BUYER BEWARE

Thanks Eric Keith Longo !

Elton John is capable of producing a full signature without looking. I can. You can too. This is laziness, or worse.

You're totally correct.

Even if he provided a full first name "Elton" without looking/while being visually impaired...that would surpass these "initials" offered up as a poor excuse for being "autographed".

Until we refuse our $upport, these "initials", secretarials and autopens will continue to litter our hobby, and be offered by Artistis like The Weekend, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, and currently Elton!

At least the Banquet signed 12" prints are a great picture and nice to frame. These cd inserts don't do it for me.

"These cd inserts don't do it for me"... Totally agree Dan

Now some fully autographed CD inserts I can do, but not these bloody "initials".

I can also imagine they will be printed on very thin flimsy paper as per the trend we have seen the last few months. Easy pass.

Many artists are littering our Hobby with these "initials" as a poor excuse for an autograph, solely to boost their Chart Position and $ale$...aka CA$H GRAB !

I grabbed a few full signature items when I was younger. A few years ago scored both the lockdown and Christmas CD signed as just "Elton" which was a letdown as i saw it as a lazy half signature but I still grabbed some. Many people thought they were fake because TPAs wouldn't authenticate them at first. I remember quick opinions saying they were bad which set off the community a bit. I was never sure why they did this since they all looked fine, just short. All of a sudden they started authenticating them. I just shook my head. Over the years since, Ive seen many fake lockdown art cards out on the secondary market. They are not even close to Elton signature, very easy to spot but people are duped into believing they have provenance because the art card looked good so they still sold easily. If TPAs had problems with these back then, they for sure won't know what to do with this version.

These will end up being an even bigger problem for the community.. if people don't expect any to be authenticated because they are too short, they are more likely to grab cheap versions on ebay. if sellers can copy the art card for pennies and put a quick EX to look somewhat similar, they wont care if it even sells for $10. It would still be a nice profit. This will tank the price of any real ones and potentially make these only worth the value of the CD (the fakes will most likely be stand alone art cards without the CD).. im definitely staying away since I have him already but can see why new collectors would want this to add a peice of Elton in their collection.. just don't expect any value out of these if you do buy.

Maybe this is a new marketing tactic. Buy an E now and collect other letters on subsequent releases. Eventually you will be able to peice together a full printed signature lol..

Wow Jason H !!! You said it all and hit the nail on the head with:

"If TPAs had problems with these back then, they for sure won't know what to do with this version. "

and also where you point out:

" if sellers can copy the art card for pennies and put a quick EX to look somewhat similar, they wont care if it even sells for $10."

(Good to see you on here  Jason H. I still am proud of our collaboration on taking down Bob Dylan. You had done amazing work on creating the exemplars of the book autopen, and then I remember DMing you with a thought "What if Dylan did this with his Artwork as well!"...and voila!)
